Anna's saved my daughter's birthday. My daughter turned 19 years old and wanted to go to the Windmill Restaurant in Holland. She has cerebral palsy and we physically had trouble getting there early. We got there 7 minutes before they closed and they rudely refused to serve us. A stranger on the street recommended Anna's and it was the best thing that could have happened. The Windmill did us a favor, because Anna's was the perfect place to celebrate her birthday. I walked in and explained the situation to the waitress (Kalina VanHouten), my daughter was still in the car crying from the treatment of the manager of the Windmill. The waitress was sooooo nice. She said she would heat up a cinnamon roll (complementary for her birthday) so it would be ready for her when she managed to come into the restaurant. She not only wished my daughter a happy birthday, but told her if she didn't like anything on the menu that just to tell her what she liked and she would create it for her. The waitress was amazing. The cinnamon roll was more like a birthday cake in size (m with a lit candle on it), and tasted out of this world. The menu had something for everyone, and the portions were huge. The decor was absolutely darling! I called a cross between a 50's diner and a dollhouse. They closed at 3, but told us not to worry about or rush. After we were done, we stayed to take some photos. Even though they were closed, they encouraged us to take our time and offered to take the...

Update 5/14/17: Have always been pleased with this place but after today's visit, my wife and I were completely unhappy! I can honestly count on one hand the amount of times I have not given a tip for bad service. Today was sadly one of them. Sat at bar and took nearly 10 minutes to even be greeted. Got our drinks quick and ordered as soon as we got our drinks. Nearly 25-30min later the assistant GM comes to give us an explanation/poor apology for the delay and that our order just popped up on the kitchen screen. He just blamed it on being so busy and felt the need to tell us they have two kitchens. No empathy or anything. 20 min later the food finally arrived. Our waitress, Danielle, never apologized or showed any empathy whatsoever. During this time of waiting, we seen at least 4 tables of at least two or more people come and go. The whole bar was completely cleared out. This place is always busy and had never failed us with service before but today they failed and worst of all, didn't own up to the problem. To put icing on the cake, the waitress handed us our bill and felt the need to go above and beyond and bill us for a different beverage that was 25 cents less! 25 cents!!! I paid our bill then told the waitress that it was the worst experience ever. She said sorry with no...
Read moreI have no idea why most of the reviews for Sharkee's on Google are actually reviews of Anna's House, which is not located in nor part of the Hampton Inn Hotel. This review is for Sharkee's Bar and Grill.
My husband and I stayed at Hampton Inn over the July 4 weekend, where they gave us $3.50 off drink coupons, as well as a free appetizer for my birthday at Sharkee's. My husband and I got in late, and went to Sharkee's an hour before closing. We were greeted and our order was taken promptly by our server, who was quite busy, but still managed to be courteous and attentive. My husband and I are not drinkers, but we got a drink to celebrate my birthday, and the drinks were made well, although I can't remember what they were. I got the pretzel sticks and my husband got a chicken quesadilla. The portions were quite large, which was a great surprise, and both were hot and delicious. It took me three days to finish my pretzel sticks because they were so filling!
Overall, our experience at this restaurant was terrific. If we ever stay at this hotel again, we will definitely stop at Sharkee's. My only suggestion is it would be great to have a vegan entree choice, perhaps a...
