Food
My culinary adventure at J&C Oyster began with the Broiled Oysters on the Happy Hour menu, a delightful appetizer featuring East Coast oysters topped with yuzu kosho mayo. The oysters were perfectly broiled, maintaining a delicate balance between the fresh briny taste of the sea and the subtle heat from the yuzu kosho mayo.
I also tried the Roasted Cauliflower, which was an exceptional dish. The cauliflower was perfectly roasted, complemented by a rich chili butter and tangy blue cheese, with fresh herbs adding a bright finish. Each bite was a harmonious blend of flavors and textures, making it a standout item on the menu.
To accompany my meal, I enjoyed a glass of Prosecco from Canevel, Veneto, Italy. At $7, it was a refreshing and bubbly addition to the dining experience, perfectly pairing with the flavors of the oysters and cauliflower.
Service
The service at J&C Oyster was impeccable, and special mention must be made of my bartender, Jennifer. She was sweet, knowledgeable, and friendly, with an upbeat personality that added to the overall positive experience. Jennifer's expertise in both food and drink made for excellent recommendations and a seamless dining experience. Her attentive service ensured that every aspect of my visit was enjoyable.

The chef is a true master of his craft. Every dish that left the kitchen was a testament to technique, creativity, and a deep respect for ingredients. You can feel the confidence and intention behind each plate — bold flavors balanced with delicate precision.
Among the many highlights, a few dishes truly stood out: • Snapper Ceviche: Bright, fresh, and perfectly acidic. The snapper was incredibly tender, and the flavors popped with every bite. It was the kind of dish you want to order twice — once for now, and once more before you leave. • Chilean Seabass: Silky, buttery, and cooked to absolute perfection. It flaked effortlessly under the fork and melted in your mouth. The preparation honored the fish while elevating it with nuanced seasoning and a beautiful presentation. • Thai Crab Curry: A showstopper. Rich, aromatic, and complex — the curry sauce had a deep, layered flavor that complemented the sweetness of the crab without overpowering it. It was comforting, luxurious, and wildly addictive.
The service was attentive without being intrusive, and the atmosphere managed to feel both upscale and welcoming.

Read moreWe went for happy hour to check this out with the thought of coming back for a date night. We will not be back for date night.
We started with fish dip, which at J&C is a super unique take on the appetizer with a hummus-like consistency and smoky flavor. It was interesting, but lacked a smoked fish “punch” or anything of the sort that could make the dish stand out over the salty chips it was served with.
We got half a dozen oysters that required mignonette to taste decent. Poor brine and okay texture on their own, but an okay treat with the condiment. I’d have felt robbed to purchase them at full menu price.
The smashed cucumber appetizer was a great mix of light and spiced flavors with a nice accent of cheese, could eat it every day.
Fried chicken breading was amazing, and felt like the best value dish on the happy hour menu.
We also ordered ceviche off the regular menu. The portion was smaller than I’m used to for the price, and while not bad, the flavors were underwhelming. You could close my eyes and pick a Peruvian restaurant at random and end up with better ceviche and a larger quantity for the price.
Happy hour drinks were an okay price. We ended up spending $100 for two people and still hungry after we left. We have zero plans at all to come back. The ambiance was great and if you don’t mind paying for highly overpriced pretty good food and drinks, this place is for you. If you are under 40 and looking for a nice date night spot, tread...
