I'm not one to normally write negative reviews, but I do feel like The Doctor's Office team needs to hear some constructive criticism. We have gone here in the past and had amazing experiences and we were so excited to go back last weekend. I called two weeks early to make the reservation since I knew near the July 4th Holiday they would be busy. When we arrived, we were greeted, and everything started out great. The server didn't seem super knowledgeable about the specials or items on the menu, but that was ok since he did take time to go ask the Chef. He didn't write down our drink and food orders, which took extra time because he had trouble remembering them all (just write it down, it will be quicker). We ordered our drinks and meals and then things started going down hill after that. Our server didn't fill our waters and took forever to come back to us to place another drink order. When he finally came back for us to order our drinks, he asked us "if we were sure we wanted another drink, as we only had 30 minutes left before we had to leave". We were totally caught off guard!!! I understand during busy weekends there can time limits on tables, however, NOT ONCE were we told there was a 75 minute (not even 2 hour) time limit. When I called to make the reservation, that could have been made know, when we were seated by the hostess that could have been made known and when the server greeted us he could have told us. Even have some fun with the branding and say that tonight's wellness visit is only 75 minutes. Then we would have had those expectations! Plus, we would have flagged someone down and put drink orders in quicker (especially because they take a while to make). We were paying for $16 drinks, you would think the server would want us to have another one. Then offered for us to have to-go cups if we ordered another drinks, but had to leave, which is illegal and then that puts us at risk. Yes, the food and drinks were amazing, but the experience left a terrible taste in our mouth. The bill for the four of us was over $300 and yet were rushed and told we needed to leave since they had another table coming in. AGAIN, never were told this when we sat down or prior. It's just really disappointing for such a high quality place to treat their repeat customers and even new customers that way. Communication is key and I really hope in the future that gets better. I'm sure we will be back because of the quality of drinks and food, but I will ask how long we have in...
Read moreHands down the best restaurant on AMI or LBK! Foodies go to the doctor!! From the ambiance, the service & of course the food, the drinks, clean crisp linens - all off the charts!! A touch of New Orleans blended with the coast! A truly unique experience. We ate on the DR side (there's a bar side too) and were welcomed w/friendly staff and warm ambiance. As we sat down, we were given a medicine shot :) of a delicious concoction of fresh fruit juices & vodka served in vintage tea cups! Fun and quirky - love! We had a pain killer and the pineapple martini - very delicious! Started with the lobsterescargot and the smoked salmon. Both dishes were served with fresh bread baked on the premises. Outstanding! For our entrees, we both had the grouper and it was best grouper dish we have ever had! Beautifully prepared, seared to perfection, accompanied with asparagus and mashed potatoes, perfectly seasoned - truly perfection! For desert, we shared the Praline Alexander - a softball size serving of the best vanilla bean ice-cream Ive ever tasted, surrounded in crushed praline, topped with whipped cream n sliced almonds in Frangelica. Superb! My hubby ordered an after dinner drink & gave the bartender creative freedom to concoct a drink with rum and coffee. Never expecting a cold drink with infused smoked cinnamon, smoked dried orange slice, served with a proper craft drink ice cube. Cannot say enough about The Doctors Office! A treasure on AMI. Cant...
Read moreWe were regular diners at Sean Murphy's Beach Bistro for many years. It was our place to go for any celebration. Last night, we went to The Doctor's Office, expecting a similar outstanding experience. We were very disappointed. The bar drinks looked good and the menu had many of the items from the Beach Bistro menu. However, the food was just OK and the service was spotty. We tried to order something other than the potatoes with cheese side dish and were told by Brooke (our server) that this was THE ONLY POTATO POSSIBLE. HUH? Finally the Maitre D' said he would talk to the chef and was able to get us some sautéed potatoes. My short rib meal had a good flavor, but had much more fat than I expected. My wife's filet was OK, but not as tasty as usual. Also, it had to be brought back once because it came with the wrong sauce. The restaurant was exceptionally noisy, not user friendly for anyone wearing hearing aids. It was quite pricey for a mediocre experience. We never minded paying the bucks for Beach Bistro's outstanding food, service, and atmosphere. This may be OK as a bar, but The Doctor's Office was no Beach Bistro -- not even close. An aside, when making the reservation on-line, I noted that this was my birthday dinner. No one bothered to check the info and no one even said "Happy Birthday." On a positive note, the Maitre D' was very pleasant and tried to be helpful. We will NOT...
