Bought ala carte, enough for six people, shrimp, crab, corn, sausage and extra potatoes. We got a call back after placing the order that we had to have two buckets. They charged $15 for the extra bucket. Lame on a 400$ order.
Seafood quality was good but the cooking instructions were way off. I’ve made shrimp/crab boils at home for 30 years, but my husband made it this time bc it was my birthday, and he followed the instructions on the card exactly.
Nope.
He came out and dumped it on the paper, the potatoes were raw, shrimp wasn’t cooked after the recommended time and the crabs weren’t even warm. He scooped it up, back in the pots, added more liquid, put it in low and left it in 8 minutes longe. Now the bucket bottoms started burning, The 4 lbs of shrimp became sawdust and were inedible, potatoes were still raw, crabs were overcooked and under same time. Corn was great 😂 So we paid $395 +$20 tip to pick up corn on the cob. Ended up ordering pizzas and throwing it all out. The idea is great but adding it all in one pot at the same time is flawed unless the potatoes are precoooked and shrimp is added to the pot last, which they weren’t per instructions. Also not providing some type of free utensils to crack the crabs was lame. We had to spend almost $30 on the crackers. Glad I didn’t spend the money adding clams, they would’ve been as bad as the shrimp. We were so excited when we saw the storefront and were looking forward to it for 10 days…turned out to be a huge bummer.
Thought maybe we’d at least get to have the buckets but they were rusty after two days. Girl in store...
Read moreMy son is in the Air Force. We are from Central PA, but he is currently stationed in SD, and seafood options for him aren't of the best quality. A couple months ago I accidentally stumbled upon TopSail Steamer Pots on FB and saved the page. His 23rd birthday was this past week and I chose to send him a pot shipped via Fedex. It was scheduled to arrive Friday, so he could cook it Saturday for lunch. It arrived on time. He was extremely excited and happy to receive it. I ordered the pot to serve 4-6 (for 3 hungry airmen). It was more than enough. He said it was really good, and he's a seafood boil snob. He told me it was very fresh seafood. Thank you TopSail Steamer for making my son and a few of his fellow land-locked airmen happy this weekend with some quality seafood. (Picture is half of the food left from...
Read moreSadly, I can no longer recommend Topsail Steamer. This is our third year getting a steamer pot while on vacation. Two out of the three years we’ve experienced a scorched pot, even following directions exactly. This year, we followed directions as written, started smelling burnt 6-7 minutes prior to the end of the cook time. Upon smelling the burnt smell, i immediately took the pot off the heat and had to cook the shrimp separately. We thought we were able to sacrifice the pot and somewhat eat it with a burnt taste. The crab legs are so tiny and HOLLOW! $100+ for two people, down the drain, twice. I’m sad because I love the idea of it but I cannot justify spending the money...
