
I'm giving this three stars for now because today I had a mixed experience. When I called to book a brow waxing I asked how much it'd be to get a 'trim.' I was told that there is no special 'trim' price but a haircut was $40. That was a good price, so I booked that, too.
Here's the good part -- I had a good brow wax from a lovely woman called Susan (I think), and a nice light massage and haircut and styling tips from a lovely woman called Rachel (I think). I was happy with my haircut and brows, and I was thinking about coming back there in a month or so for a perm. Then I went to pay and was told that the bill was $75! I questioned it and was told that the price for a haircut was $55. I said that on the phone, I was clearly told the price was $40. The receptionist said she was sorry.
Later I called the salon and spoke to the manager. I explained that her receptionist had made a mistake and I asked for a $15 credit for my next visit. The person I spoke to checked with the manager and then said no, they did not do credits, and it was "very unlikely" that the receptionist would have told me the wrong price. I told her that if they wouldn't give me a credit, I would not be back. So then I got the credit, and I will gladly go back and try again, but next time I'm going to be careful to check the prices and not rely on the receptionist to tell me what I'm paying! Everything went wrong from consult to cut. Stylist and her stylist mom argued with my 15 year old daughter and accused us of lying when we told them they took 5-6 inches off instead of 1 inch. We had to pull up pictures and video, which they then accused us of faking. Luckily they took their own before video in front of their flower wall so they finally accepted the mistake. So aggressive~! Michelle was picking up hair off the ground and yelling "Where's the hair then?" to my daughter. I reminded her that she was 15 and then she shamed me for letting her get her hair done without an adult present. Only told her that because she was so aggressively yelling at my daughter and she appears older so she needed to know to back off. Owner offered color correction and extensions, which we declined. Instead she left with a crooked and choppy haircut, damp hair and one slanted bang and one blunt cut bang of different lengths that looked HORRIBLE. It was evident my wife was Carolineās last customer for the day and the appointment felt rushed.
When I called the salon to explain what happened, Jody offered to fix Carolineās mess and while she did an amazing job and took her time to make my wifeās hair look as good as possible given the situation, she did not receive the haircut she originally came in for and one piece remains shorter where Jody was honest and let my wife know that this was the case.
For an alleged upscale salon on Anna Maria, the new owners really pay no attention to who they hire and at no point was my wife offered a refund.
