After having lunch at home we decided to go out for dessert and coffee. Feeling adventurous we decided to try a new place for dessert. "Breakfast at Victoria" was closing shortly so we hurried to try them out. Their bakery selection looked scrumptious, but as we all know looks can be deceiving. However, not this time; The Napoleon was absolutely delicious and huge. The top layer which often times is soggy was crispy and a the cream underneath it was absolutely delish. The "Coffee late" was very strong just the way i like it. Fair warning it might be too strong for the American taste. I have a Nespresso at home and the coffees in most restaurants taste like dish water to me in comparison. So this was a nice change. We wanted to try other dishes but since we already had lunch in addition to dessert and coffee we were full. However, that did not stop us for taking something out for later. We decided on the eggplant parmigiana. It did not disappoint. The sauce, the cheese, the eggplant was one of the best we've had in Sarasota. We are not newbies when it comes to eating out. Before the pandemic we ate out 7-10 a week. The only thing i can suggest is that they should increase their lunch menu to include some more Italian hot plates and maybe some pasta dishes, since their strength seems to be the genuine...
Read moreI don't review often but my experience today just rubbed me the wrong way. I know it was close to closing but it seemed to me that me being there was an inconvenience to the two guys managing the place. There was a lovely and helpful young woman at the register who was trying to help me. However the one guy was brow beating her about the money that was in the cash register in front of me. She looked like this was upsetting her but he just kept hammering away at her and ignoring the fact that I was trying to get wrung up properly. There was nobody else in line so he would have had plenty of time to handle business after I was wrung up as not to embarrass the poor girl and also not to be rude with a customer there. They were out of grilled eggplant which was an ingredient on their signature sandwich and others. He blurted out that they were out but didn't even say "hey sorry" The focaccia bread fell apart as soon as I picked it up. It was dry and crusty and you couldn't eat it like a normal sandwich. On the only good side, my wife had the Caprese Croissant and enjoyed it. I live on the island and had heard good things about the place. Maybe it was a bad time but I won't be in any hurry to go back here. First impressions...
Read moreWow and wow again! A friend and I visited Breakfast at Victoriaâs for the first time and can guarantee it wonât be our last. We both ordered eggplant parm, which was the best Iâve eaten in Sarasota and rivals my Italian motherâs. The eggplant was covered with cheese, pesto, and a seriously a-ma-zing red sauce. It was served with two pieces of focaccia perfect for dipping. To finish the meal I had pistachio mousse that tasted like real, fresh pistachios, not like the bland, flavorless nuts that come in bulk or bags at the grocery store. It was difficult to pick one sweet from the many available pastries and desserts because they all looked mouthwatering: Cannoli, sfogliatelle, cheesecake, doughnuts, zabaglione, bread pudding and lots, lots more. The service was excellent and the prices were throwback. Breakfast at Victoriaâs is all-around awesome. P.S. Iâve now been a total of six times and, on each occasion, have been impressed and delighted by the food, the service and the friendliness of Eleanor and Luigi, the owners. My last lunch was breaded soft-boiled eggs in a truffle cream...
