We really dig this place. Vibe is chill. Pretty busy the whole time we were there. 30 minute wait to get in BUT they take your # when you give your name so you aren't stuck waiting within ear shotbut can wander around while you wait to kill time. Sweating is decent. It's not the largest place but they probable have like 10 tables and 8 seats at the bar.
This place is doing some really smart stuff. You can order directly through the QR code and it comes right to your table. This was so amazingly convenient and I feel is very helpful with how customizable all the tacos, burritos and bowls are. Or you can go old school and walk up to order if you so choose. Service was pretty fast and all the workers, although laser focused and all on their own separate missions, we're helpful and friendly.
They've got a bar too which you could think of as its own separate thing b/c you will order and pay at the bar separately from ordering and paying for your food. They've got a few margaritas to pick from ranging from $10-$14. Wife got the Top Shelf and she enjoyed it, so no complaints. I went with the budget opt-in which was a $4 Tecate 12oz can. I was pretty stoked they had Tecate. Living in Portland previously, it became my go-to budget ppl. They also had 2x Waikiki Brewing beers on tap for $7; Jalapeno Mouth and Skinny Jeans ipa along with some other basic beers for $5.
On to the grub! They offer a 10" or 12" burrito option with the latter coming with a pretty hefty price tag (imo) and when you start adding things like grilled veggies and avocado the price just keeps climbing. So I want the biggest fan of their prices but I get it, times are changing, the pandemic turned businesses upside down so with that being said they aren't horrible, just a tad high. Could also be b/c we're in Hawaii? But in the end the quality of the food was above par and everything was absolutely delicious! We Will definitely be back! For Mexican on Oahu, it's been really hard to find anything worth calling Mexican having lived in Vegas, so finding this place was a breath of fresh air. Taqueria La Marea is our other go-to Mexican but they have the worst hours and are in...
Read moreOrdered take out, I live 5 min away so food was still fresh when I got home. Everything looked amazing, smelled great, and definitely had fresh ingredients. Was really excited to get some Mexican food in my belly but I am honestly just disappointed with the lack of flavor... in everything I tasted. I got a 3 taco plate, all chicken, with rice and beans. The chicken had barely any flavor/seasoning, the rice was good, but the beans needed some salt, or some thing! Never had such bland Mexican food in my life.. but maybe I am spoiled since I lived in SoCal for 13 years. Now for the chips and salsa, can't mess that up right..? Idk if it was just an off day for them or what, but man, the salsa that came with the chips literally tasted like a smokey marina sauce, tasted fresh but I felt like I should be dipping mozzarella sticks into the salsa instead of tortilla chips. I am not exaggerating. The red (hot sauce) and green salsa that came with the tacos.. practically tasted identical except the red was just a little more smokey in flavor, and both had no spice whatsoever. Most green salsas are tangy and this had no hint of lime or tanginess at all. And I am not the type of person to leave reviews in spite or to fabricate my experience, honestly never write "bad" reviews in general, I just couldn't believe how bland and tasteless everything was when I paid $50 for lunch for my...
Read moreBummer. Brought my family because they were craving Mexican food and didn’t have time to drive to our usual spot. Ordered burritos, carne asada tacos and chicken tacos. My favorite thing was my little girls quesadilla. They do not have chips and salsa for dine in, it is extra. I have been to over 30 Mexican restaurants and have never not had chips and salsa with my meal if you eat in. This is a first, I would recommend you add this into your cost which is already high. Now on to the food. This was the most BLAND Mexican food I have ever had… and this is coming from someone who is Mexican. Authentic Mexican food is built around Spice which this food lacks. Even the salsa had no spice. Taco Bell packets have more spice. I kept asking my family if they thought anything was spicy and they all agreed. If you want authentic Mexican food, make the the drive to Wahiawa and go to El Ranchero el Taqueria. You...
