The MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! I attempted to place a delivery order with Door Dash, well over an hour prior to closing for an order of Blueberry Pancakes with Guava Syrup for $12.50. I requested, if possible as my side of meat, an order of Kalua Pig, which they have on their menu for several of their menu items. The additional fee of any meat item is $6.50. I offered to pay extra as it was not an offered meat item. Not including the tip for the driver and there is no delivery fee included, this is STRICTLY for food and tax, my total came to $19.90. My order was cancelled by the restaurant with NO explanation except saying that they could not fulfill my order. Huh? Why? Most times when you go to a restaurant, they offer substitutions or an attempt to work with a customer. I attempted to contact Door Dash through chat, and two separate times, both CS Agents, knowing my issue, passed me by, even though I explained on the second attempt that this was an emergency since the restaurant was now going to close in 30 minutes, on the Door Dash site. (Note:Upon checking the website, the closing time for Eggs & Things stated one hour later than the Door Dash time). I had mentioned from the first agent’s chat in the reason box that I was willing to do a substitution, yet I do not understand why the restaurant accepted the order and it took 10-15 minutes to receive a cancellation.
Does it really take that long for an establishment to realize that they don’t have enough product on hand to make 4 Blueberry Pancakes and a side of pre- made Kalua Pig, I am guessing it is already made, or do they roast it to order? Moreover, Eggs and Things makes it VERY CLEAR that SYRUP ( Coconut, Guava, or Maple) MUST BE REQUESTED. They even charge for EXTRA SYRUP. I understand, as they are in a business to make a living, but PLEASE treat potential customers with RESPECT. Your prices are not on the low end. I know that it may cost you $3.00 or $4.00 to make the order of pancakes and who knows how big of an order of Kalua Pig is served on your Tater Tots Appetizer on your Eggs Benedict, and Kalua Pig is pricey. Yes, your pancakes are large portions, but that is because the cost is not as high. At the least, could an explanation or an offer of some substitution be made? Is this how your customers in your restaurants are treated as well? I am surprised that you have such good reviews and return customers.
I will NEVER EVER do business with Eggs and Things. I cannot even get your name correct , that is how memorable you are. I keep having to change it from Pancakes and Things.
I was in the Food Industry at one time., this behavior would NEVER fly! I was taught to service the customer. You have lost a potential customer for life! The sad thing is that I was looking forward to trying your food. I heard good things about it. I take photos, post them and write good reviews as well.
Best of luck! Hope your other customers have better service.
I give one star for the effort in “attempting the order and not just...
Read moreWish I could give more stars because the women in here were very nice including manager. It took one man -Randy- to bring this rating down to 2 stars for me. I'm going to flat out say it Randy came off very racist towards us. 4 African Americans brought out his truth I guess. We woke up starving and picked a place but a quick turn accidentally put us here (around 8am). We were so hungry we decided to park and go in. On entry we're greeted by the ladies and seated Went straight to viewing the menu ,barely said a word to each other we were focused lol. Randy appears We start ordering drinks he says ok and literally walks away as we're still talking he had to turn back to us to answer "Kona coffee". We think wow he's in a rush. Now for food, we all know what we want so we're going around the table , he takes 2 orders and starts walking away again! says ok he'll be back for other 2. We say no way we're all ready now. At this point we start to feel it's personal because the place wasn't crowded where is he running to? Food arrives we ask for ketchup packets (the bottle on table was dirty) Randy says we don't have those & we're thinking what do they give for take out? As we're about start to eating more patrons enter, Randy now has 4 tables us, a hawiian family behind us, 2 tables both white families in front of us. We see and hear him greet all those tables with a smile, actually stood at every one having conversations and laughs. Randy has checked on the 3 tables multiple times, NEVER came back to us even tho we were there first. Just imagine your waiter passing you by going to table behind and in front of you. We flagged down a waitress and inform her of what's going on with randy & ask for someone else she apologized and helps us with more coffee, we then ask her about ketchup packets she says they have them and brings us a bunch from a basket at the front desk where they all stand!! Geesh were not even worth ketchup packets? Anyway the whole experience was such a turn off we all ate due to hunger but definitely lost our appetite. We explain entire situation to manager she apologized multiple times. We PAID our BILL with tip to new waitress and left. Shame on him, shame this review is not food focused the meals were likely very good but we lost any joy for the food...
Read more2022 Feb update: PROTOCOLS: as of 2/18/22, still need your vaccination card or negative COVID test less than 48hrs old & ID to dine in. Masks are mandatory. Wear one. Check in with the iPad outside or on the Yelp app. Wait outside on one of the benches, socially distanced on the sidewalk, or in your car in the free parking lot nearby. You'll be texted when your table is ready. Walk in and show your ID & vax card to the hostess. ...BUT all members of your party have to be there when you get the text or you won't be seated. Expect anywhere from a 15-45 minute wait on a weekday morning.
PROS: +Still very nice customer service. Really, really good. +Very good coffee, served in those old-fashioned diner mugs. +Prices are still reasonable for the area, despite COVID-19. +COVID-19 protocols are solid and you can tell they've done everything they can to maintain a clean, if older, location/shop. +The pancakes are magical! Order a stack and make sure you eat them with the whipped butter and coconut syrup. Sooooo good!
CONS: -1st time back in over a year...the omelet today wasn't fantastic, a bit overcooked AND oily. Wouldn't mention it except that "Eggs" are the first word in the restaurant's name, so...yeah. Kinda expected that to be consistent. -The ahi was not the best. Oily, oddly cut into small pieces/diced and in stingy portions, overseasoned, and overcooked. Maybe just an off day for the sauté/grill stations? -Discounts are fewer, if at all (tho it's a wonder they're still open with all the COVID-19 regs).
Overall, still gonna go here for the great customer service, coffee, and pancakes--family has been coming here a long time and I'm sure the rest of the menu will get better/back to normal as the pandemic levels out 🤞🤞. Very nice customer service. Not open 24 hours like the Waikiki location. Bathrooms do not smell great, which is odd because they appear very very clean. Discounts daily, and rotating specials. Plentiful and free parking, but lot can get a little tight. Family-friendly, and the booths are large. Military discounts, Kama'aina discounts, and kids eat free on certain days. Worth the visit. Reasonable for the area. Expect a lot of tourists, and some local families. It's a nice mix. 3.5 stars. On the fence about...
