There’s a certain kind of coffee shop that exists these days purely for the photo, not the palate, and this one fits that mold perfectly. My visit left me more disappointed than caffeinated, and honestly, I can’t imagine returning as a paying customer.
I ordered what was supposed to be an autumnal forward cold brew. A celebration of pumpkin and spice; but what I received was little more than “pumpkin water” served in a plastic cup of mostly ice. The drink was so watered down it could barely be called coffee, let alone something inspired by the season. When I was offered a lid, I got a polite apology but, the cup itself was so full of ice that the lid wouldn’t even fit, which should’ve been my first sign to cut my losses. But the mere size of an $8, 10 to 12 ounce plastic cup was the first flag. Three sips later, the ‘pumpkin water’ found its way into the trash can at the bus stop outside.
To be fair, overall, the cashier was friendly and informative, mentioning that the second floor will one day become a wellness center. I'm sure a future hype junkie’s paradise for the army of social media influencers that will be invited to celebrate comped cucumber detoxification snake oils. The lounge area looks great in photos, warm lighting, trendy furniture and fixtures, but aesthetics alone can’t mask a lack of flavor, creativity, or soul. An ultimate trophy pic for the terminally online.
This coffee shop feels like it was built for influencers, not for people who actually drink coffee. It’s the kind of place that looks alive on Instagram but feels dead behind the eyes in person. For a space that’s already seen several reincarnations, from an appliance showroom to yet another “curated” café, you’d think the businesses would learn that community connection and quality product matter more than curated minimalism and $8 “wellness” fall flavored water.
A beautiful space is worthless if it leaves no taste, no memory, and no...

The baristas greeted me with friendly aloha, and when I ordered their matcha cloud, I knew I’d found something special.
The matcha itself delivered: smooth, vibrant green, with just the right hint of sweetness and no bitterness in sight. It tasted premium—like they’re actually using high-grade matcha powder, not some watered-down version. Each sip felt balanced, refreshing, and comforting. If you’re a matcha fan—or just looking for a cafe with good energy in Honolulu—Everyday Cafe is a...
