My recent experience at Max’s Restaurant Dillingham (Cuisine of the Philippines, Hawaii) was beyond unacceptable. From the moment I walked in, I felt frustrated, disrespected, and deeply disappointed by the service (or complete lack of it). What should have been a pleasant meal quickly turned into one of the worst customer service encounters I’ve ever had. When I arrived, there was no host or server to greet me at the entrance. I stood there waiting for what felt like an eternity (easily over 20 minutes) without any acknowledgment. Employees walked by, but no one even said “hello” or “we’ll be right with you.” There was a sign that said “Please wait to be seated,” so I patiently waited but yet no staff member came over to seat me or even glanced in my direction. This long, awkward wait made me feel like I was invisible and completely unvalued as a customer. After waiting far too long, I finally had to flag down an employee myself. I approached an older lady whose name tag said Aida working at the cashier counter chatting with someone and politely asked if someone could seat us. Her response absolutely shocked me. Instead of an apology or any attempt to help, she snapped at me in the most dismissive tone imaginable: “Can’t you see we don’t have any tables available?” She even pointed at the “wait to be seated” sign, as if the situation was somehow my fault for expecting basic service. I found this incredibly rude and unprofessional. Being spoken to like that is essentially being scolded for asking for service which made me feel humiliated and angry. There was absolutely no excuse for that attitude; a simple, courteous explanation or an estimate of wait time would have been enough, but instead, I was met with sarcasm and disrespect. To make matters worse, even though she claimed there were no available tables, I could clearly see empty tables that just hadn’t been cleaned. Instead of putting in the effort to clean them and seat customers, she just continued her conversation with someone. Honestly, one star is generous for this experience. I wish I could give zero. I have never been treated so poorly at a restaurant in Hawaii. I will not be returning to Max’s Restaurant Dillingham, and I’ll make sure to warn friends and family about the way we were treated. No customer should ever have to beg for a table or be met with rudeness when simply trying to get seated. Avoid this place if you expect basic courtesy and a clean table, you will unfortunately find neither here.

My first meal back in US, and of course it was Max’s! There’s no way of duplicating their lechon kawali Sisig! It’s my death row meal, my ultimate cheat day plate and my guiltiest pleasure. I love how it comes sizzling on its hot plate and how crispy the bits get the longer it keeps contact with it. My cousin treated me to lunch and we ordered an ass ton of other food too but nothing, nothing, nothing compares to the lechon kawali sisig. Funny enough my cousin is a freaking celebrity here and we were treated like movies stars…he comes here weekly and orders three or four dishes just for himself! My only gripe is the increasing prices but maybe it’s due to being in Hawaii…nevertheless the sticker shock was real. Saying all this, I’ll pay anything for the Sisig!

To fix your modern-classic Filipino cravings, head nowhere but in Max’s Restaurant. When you are in a foreign country this will make you feel at home and the crew is trying their best to offer you dishes that will comfort your Filipino inner soul. Ordered tapsilog and bangsilog that both comes with garlic rice (which is really good coz ain’t dominated with lotsa garlic) and two over-easy egg. It’s so good and reminds me when I was in College. It comes with vinegar and papaya salad as a small side dish. I kinda don’t care about the papaya salad. Overall I enjoy the food and were cooked tasty. Will recommended! Aloha!

on top of an extra loud sound system, it's impossible to work with the woman that was working up front tonight. I was on a delivery to pick up for Uber as a diamond driver and the woman refused to give me the delivery until I confirm that I had picked it up. I can't confirm a pickup until I have actually picked up the item. she started a fight with me at the front of the store and refused to hand it over after handing it to me and then ripping it out of my hands. she called for her manager up front who gave me the order then left me a negative review on my profile after I was already on delivery.

this is a terrible restaurant. I can't tell you if their food is good or not but I can tell you that their staff is the most unprofessional staff that I worked with tonight.

I bust my ass every single day without a day off. people like this make my job more difficult then waste my time.

on top of an already extremely loud atmosphere in the restaurant I can tell you from experience with other restaurants that these people are not professional and I would never trust them with my food.

the orders are not even kept in a hot box or warm area.

when I gave the woman the name for the customer on the delivery instead of looking at her bags of orders ready to go she spent an extra minute to 2 minutes walking around clicking on screens and looking at digital screens.

there are three bags on the counter.

if someone walks in and gives you a name and confirm the company the delivery is for as well as all the items, you should not need to see my phone or give me an issue about confirmation.

hand the driver the delivery so they can get done with their job.

every second counts when it comes to keeping food hot.

you already damaged the food by not keeping it in a hot area.

every second you spend wasting my time including that extra 5 to 10 minutes is costing me money and customer satisfaction.

you are not...

I called and spoke to the manager over the phone september 19, 2024 3pm. She addressed herself as a manager on duty. She was very rude. Wouldnt allow me speak and wouldnt allow me to address the reason why i called. She kept talking over me. And when i tried to talk she would speak louder and continue without stopping. She asked me my name, when i gave it to her that it was Bud (which is my real name, thats what it is on all my credit cards license and birth certificate) she didnt believe me and said im a liar. Who is she to decide if my name is real or fake? If my name was sarah would she stop and listen to what i have to say? And why is she so focused on my name and not why im calling? makes no sense to me. She has no control over her stress and emotions. I have owned and managed several business in my life. I would never trust a person like this as my manager. I wouldnt even have her on payroll as minimum wage. She doesnt know how to represent and give the correct image for the owner of this business. She cant manage stress, she is rude and unprofessional. I asked her, "please can i just say what i need to?" She said "no because your talking nonsense". Thats word for word, literally what she told me. After all that she hung up on me without saying bye. You chose a real winner to be...
