I would've given this place 5 stars but 1 star was knocked out if you continue reading. Let me say first, parking is horrendous. If you are here around 530pm, before 6pm when street parking is free, it's like finding a kneedle in a haystack. I thought I found parking but watch out for red meters, covered parking meters, etc. You will get a ticket.
Once you finally get into the place, it is located right in front of the Houston street art. To your right is this amazing bar, that doesn't have a sign yet, but David is a spectacular mixologist. I asked for his special and he created this cup of magic. Decently priced for the area and totally worth it if you want your taste buds dancing. You will then pass an Italian place, kokoro, blind goat, a wine bar to your right, and if you continue down you'll pass about 3-4 more places to eat. Seating is available for those who can't sit in front of the restaurant. At the very back is a secret garden which is a beautiful outdoor bar that looks like a bird cage, open windows and beautiful flowers that compliment the look. The drinks here are magnificent. I've had the top 4 drinks on their soft opening menu. All wonderful. Bravery is clean and the design is very hip. Everyone is extremely nice and you are bound to have a great time here.
Alright, my only complaint is the rat. One of the bartenders already named him... Guess... Jerry.
Jerry likes to hang in the patio area next to the secret garden. When you are enjoying your time under the umbrellas in the comfy seats drinking those great drinks, Jerry likes to check up on you. There's no harm here but I'm deathly afraid of mice. Once bravery takes away that problem, I'll be happy to throw back another star.
One of my favorite food halls. I think there's so much elegance and dynamic vibes here, this place will do amazing. Hope they can fix the parking around...
Read moreSummary (3/5): slightly overpriced menus with limited selection and cramp space makes bravery somewhat unimpressive compared to its competitors.
As the third food hall in downtown, bravery has a lot to compete with. While conservatory dominates as the laid-back eatery with (somewhat) cheap, delicious bites and Finn hall being a spacious family space with plenty of seating, bravery targets the chic, younger modern crowd with 3 bars and only 5 restaurants.
The space is accented with art on the walls, background music, and a projector that screens a movie. Most seating is countertop but there are some tables scattered about, and for the most part, bravery achieves the "look" to enamor its target audience.
Yet, the food is somewhat overpriced and lacks variety. I was able to try 3/5 restaurants and was unimpressed by any of the dishes because they simply were not that good despite being at least $12 and over. The alcohol is mainly focused on wine with some cocktails, but few choices for beer.
However, I can't blame the restaurants too much for the lackluster dining experience. What the creators envisioned as an immersive dining experience as diners see their food prepared seems more like chefs shackled to confined spaces. This may be due to the layout with kokoro and blind goat being set in the middle of the hall.
With two other food halls within a five minute walk, I'm not sure how well bravery will fare in the coming days after the hype is over. Due to its high prices and limited food choices, I simply cannot see myself...
Read moreI dined in here for lunch yesterday (late afternoon on a Saturday) with a friend and really enjoyed my experience.
Food: I ordered from The Blind Goat and ate at their bar. The service was straightforward and overall quick. I ordered the lamb curry and the sticky wings. The Lamb Curry was just okay. It tasted bland and the portion was standard. The taste didn’t match the cost at all ($17). I guess for the appearance and location in this food hall, I really thought the food was going to be amazing. The sticky wings were pretty good, a few of my wings weren’t evenly coated but other than that they were good.
Drink: from the Wine Bar (directly across the Blind Goat), the bartender/owner was very friendly and welcoming. I order a glass of Moscato D'asti for myself (delicious, I need to know the brand) and a glass of blood orange mimosa for my friend.
Atmosphere: I really love that this food hall has so many seating options including outside directly across from the “Houston is Inspired” mural. The interior is nice and modern and a place I want to bring friends to for a hang-out. There is a good variety of restaurants in this food hall and I look forward to trying a different restaurant the next time I return. This food hall is work a visit and is located...
