Felt Ripped Off: A Frat House with a Heavy Political Agenda
So disappointed tonight after Drunk Shakespeare. What was supposed to be a fun night out turned into a complete waste. The show felt more like a frat party with a bunch of loud dudes talking about their yeah. Like for the entire show. WAY too heavy of a political agenda about orientation too. Not sure how this is a comedy show on the works of Shakespeare. Despite trying to be edgy or whatever is cool to do these days, it's not in the spirit of classic literature at all IMO.
What Went Wrong:
The comedy fell flat, and the historical facts were questionable at best. The focus shifted to social issues and sexual orientation, which wasn’t advertised and felt out of place. The atmosphere resembled a wild bachelorette party, full of men thrusting with women in the lower seats, going through their purse as an "act", and enough "I GOT A BIG ONE LADIES" jokes to last a lifetime. We pay for that now I guess? The noise level was ear-shattering, exceeding safe decibel limits for hearing loss.
Hidden Costs:
Drinks were overpriced—$6 for a cola, $6 for water, $17 cocktails, before fees & taxes & tip —and the promised "free drink" with ticket was just a tiny shot glass of something I couldn't even begin to guess what it was. Probably not alcoholic. Felt like a GOTCHA we didn't say you could choose or what it was. Obligation fulfilled I guess. The whole experience was like that and that alone is telling enough. Oh and we arrived as the show started but you can't order from the bar. You have to use the QR code and it took 35 minutes to get a can of coke. I asked if I can order from the bar and was told no. Many drinks, including several beers, were "sold out," leaving only high-margin options available. But the performers had the sold out beers on the stage. What's up with that?
Overall:
It felt like the experience was all about taking your money rather than providing entertainment. Save yourself the hassle and skip this show—look for something truly worth watching. I wish I had my time and money back, and I hope others can learn...

Drunk Shakespeare Houston is hands-down one of the most hilarious, unique, and wildly entertaining shows you’ll ever experience—and trust me, I would know. I’ve been over 30 times in the past two years, and I still laugh like it’s my first time every single show. You never see the same thing twice, which makes it endlessly rewatchable and always fresh.
The cast is absolutely phenomenal. Brady, Anastasia, DeShae, Pantelis, Will, Dylan, and Joey are outrageously talented, quick-witted, and fully committed to the chaos in the best possible way. Their chemistry is electric and their comedic timing is impeccable. You can tell they genuinely love what they do—and it’s contagious.
Zac, the manager, brings an unmatched energy to the entire experience. He’s enthusiastic, welcoming, and really makes you feel like you’re part of something special from the moment you walk in.
And yes, there’s booze—and plenty of it. They serve alcohol throughout the show, which only adds to the unpredictable, raucous fun. Ashley, and the bar staff, make delicious drinks. I highly suggest the Lady M if you like fruity cocktails.
Whether you’re a Shakespeare buff or just someone looking for a laugh and a drink, this show delivers every single time.
Can’t recommend it enough. Grab some friends, grab a drink, and prepare to laugh until your face hurts. Cheers to Drunk...
Read moreMy fiancé and I had a GREAT time! It was fun, interesting and hilarious. The only issue we had was the overbearing heckling, which is not the actors faults. This show is very interactive but some of the audience members just didn't know when to stop. The actors handled it with such grace though, even the drunk actor! It was still enjoyable and the drinks were great! They were definitely overpriced but where in downtown Houston are drinks NOT overpriced? When we go out, we expect to pay a lot for drinks. We were surprised to find out it wasn't a theater but a smaller room that looks like a library with seats but it was nice! This show is not for the easily offended or conservative, there are lots of sexual jokes/themes. I would recommend to all else! My fiancé has a degree in theater and we both grew up doing theater and we LOVED it. I wouldn't go expecting accurate or serious renditions of the plays by any means but they were actually very talented actors. You have to be such a good actor to do Macbeth and have people laugh at your jokes. There was one section where the drunk actor did a serious monologue and it made my hair stand up, she was so good!! We can't wait to see the drunk dracula show...
