I am really disappointed. I’ve had really great experiences up until today, but today has made it so I will never be in shop again. I will probably just redeem my points ahead, pick up, and not return.

I drove out of my way here to redeem my toast, tab points, they were having issues with their POS - That’s fine things like that happen especially with technology.

They had been advertising pumpkin cheesecake So I came in and asked if they had had it. I had assumed they had sold out because it’s popular and very early in the season. But shockingly I was told they had a fresh pie that hadn’t been sliced. I asked him if I could have a slice set aside Before I leave because I would eat it for dessert. And I got a slice of quiche and an Americano.

One thing odd to me as a coffee shop is that they do not have simple syrup. It’s just sugar and water. Again, that’s fine. I just used one of their alternative sweeteners. The Americana was great. I do love their beans. Lots of coffee shops use their Beans so just go to those.

What really upset me and has me not wanting to return is the lack of Customer Care. It was very clear How excited I was for this pumpkin cheesecake.

When it was discovered that there actually was no pie, I overheard the man I ordered with telling one of the employees he thought there was in her saying no, that they had completely ran out. Instead of coming over to me, apologizing, and offering a solution, he totally avoided me. I waited about 10 minutes to see if he would come back or anyone would address me, knowing that I had ordered it. But no one did.

Then my quiche came out half cold. Then when I went up to the register to ask about my pumpkin cheesecake to take it to go, she said they didn’t have anymore. Acting as if it wasn’t clear I had ordered it and no one was gonna say anything to me. Mind you, I’m always friendly and polite. I even strike up conversation when I’m in there, so this is just rude. As if my dollar just does not matter.

So she offered to give me another slice and replacement of that, to which I declined and asked for a refund. That was it.

She did apologize later when it was clear I was upset, but the employee that comes to the farmers markets and took my order. The guy with a long hair was totally out of line for not coming up to me.

The last two coffee shops that were here were not successful primarily because of customer service and quality. I hope that little dreamers does not continue to treat...

Little Dreamer is a new location of Boomtown coffee, which from my experience has a location in the Heights, as well as the Understory in downtown Houston.

Very cool spot, easy parking, and great location in general in Montrose.

Things that are great:

I’ve always been a fan of Boomtown’s brew. They have interesting drinks that make you want to come back! The branding. I really enjoy the pinks and baby blues in Little Dreamers branding. I would totally buy a hat or sweatshirt from them to represent those fun colors. Atmosphere: I really like the art pieces that are on the walls, as well as the mural that’s painted on one of the walls.

Things that could improve:

The prices on the food: I ordered a taco with mushrooms and the total was a little over 6 dollars. When I got the taco, it was honestly disappointing. It was as if they put half of one egg in it, maybe one whole tiny mushroom cut up, and little bit of black beans. I’m a pretty small person, and I would have needed to eat 3 of them to consider it breakfast.

Just down the street is Blacksmith coffee, and I got 2 big filling burritos that fed both my wife and I for $10. And down the street the other direction is Pavón Coffee, where you get a very filling big burrito for $7.

The point is, the taco at Little Dreamer is just way too overpriced for what they give you. Either make that taco more like $3 or put more in it.

Overall, definitely try out Little Dreamers coffee, and think about stopping somewhere else to get a...

I went to the soft opening on Pi Day, March 14, 2005, and ran into a lot of people whom I've known, in the coffee industry of Houston, for some time. It was quite a homecoming. I've know Matt Toomey of Little Dreamer for many years and have such respect for his skills in the world of coffee.

This location is his latest endeavor. In addition to the excellent on site coffees that my wife, my friend Carlos, and I enjoyed, I did take home a bag of his latest from an estate in Ethiopia. (I've always considered Matt to be a specialist in the coffees from Ethiopia...and, I always trust his recommendations....he said that this was a good one).

It is a great coffee. I'm extracting it in an interesting way. My Chemex, but, instead of a paper filter, a metal mesh after market filter in order to capture more body.

I normally do three grinds with any new bag of coffee and let my wife decide which tastes best. But what is weird about this one is that is tastes very good with a Fellow Ode 2 setting of 9, but also 6 and 5. That normally doesn't happen. You start getting bitter or sour notes depending on the grind size.

So, to summarize, it is a darn...

We've been here about 7-8 times now. We were excited to have a new coffee shop nearby. I enjoy one of their Vietnamese cold brews. Pretty much been sticking with that. I haven't had their food, but my friend had a little meat pie (?) on one of our visits and liked it fine enough. We haven't returned in over a month due to the dismissive service we've received a few times. The last visit, for instance, we asked a single question, and the barista/employee could not have been more dismissive. He clearly didn't want to be bothered, and of course, why would we want to return somewhere that isn't warm towards its customers. This has NOT happened every time, but it has happened twice. We figured we'd give it some time since most other experiences have been positive. It's a shame when it's a few blocks away. The environment is OK. There are usually people working from their laptops, seemingly quite comfortably.

Stopped by Little Dreamer Coffee while visiting family for a quick pick me up. Drinks were okay. Matcha was drinkable and lattes and swamp thang were alright. The person taking our order made it feel like answering our simple questions about syrups and matcha brands was a burden. His tone came off dismissive, almost like we were bothering him or asking something dumb even though the shop wasn’t busy at all. Maybe he was just having a rough day but it definitely left a negative impression.
