We came to this place after the Facebook ad for Tomahawks on Wednesday. Very dark out of style place, a place you will never take a date or any of that in the first place, just outdated - some place can pull it off. As soon as we entered, there was a gentlemen cleaning the bar and another one on his phone who I will guess is the (kitchen manager, bouncer, restroom manager) I don't know? There was no acknowledgement other then looking up and back to his phone and we sat down. After we sat down, we waited for about 10 minutes but even though we were the only souls in the establishment, we still didn't get any guidance or acknowledgement. We went to the bar to ask if we had to order here or what was the process, he was bothered we asked (the manager of something) Anyways, we order the Tomahawks and they were NOT available, we settled for the ribeye's, and added lump of crab. The meal came with some corn on the side and a salad. Order one 1 vodka soda to drink, was served with a styrofoam cup. (the bars around give you a real glass, more of it and for about a dollar-fifty less)
Salad took about 20 minutes to come out, once again, we were the only ones there, about 45 minutes we are wondering for an update on the food or anyone to check if we need a drink or something....NADA! the manager or so comes up to us and tell us "we just found out the crab never made it" and we were like okay just do the shrimp.
About an hour and fifteen minutes later the food finally came out, burnt on the outside and cold on the inside. Shrimp and steak had the same salty Cajun seasoning and was salty! At that point we gave up.
This place has good reviews for what it does, karaoke but they should stick to that. No customer service what so ever, weak management, could tell why we were the only customers there at that time for "steak night".
Only good thing that place has going on is the nice looking bar-tender girl, she made 2 drinks the most in the course of 2 hours (no customers) and was very nice when we checked out. That place don't deserve her.
There is better places on a Wednesday or during the week for steaks, Pour Behavior $25 steak and lobster, quality meat and service and they are usually packed but very prompt and on the dot, no wonder they are successful at all they do. Gloria's across the street, great customer service and such a nice place. On the Kirb, great food, great atmosphere, great ambience and Community Bar, great bartender and food! No reason to spend money on food at places like...

Lots of reviews complain about the blonde bartender; They are just brats that expect a bartender to have clear hearing over all the singing and music. They may also have never heard of RBF or just don't like other females. I personally think she is amazing and find her RBF to be comforting! She makes amazing drinks and doesn't make you wait a grip to be served. Bald+Tatted bartender was mediocre in comparison, no shade. There was also a girl who regularly made her way around the seating to clear tables and make sure everyone was okay. Nice touch there for Customer service.
My only complaint rests in the DJ. First and foremost, he does a good job at playing filler music that gets the place poppin for a while. That is very much appreciated. As a KJ though.... Aww man... I am a former KJ, so I understand the in&outs of the business... While he gets people up on stage consistently enough to keep the show going without it feeling stagnant, his lineup choices clearly are based on favorability. I arrived when they opened, purchased my two drinks required to be even able to sing and submitted my one song at 9pm. I did not sing until a bit past 1am, and that was at the behest of someone else going and asking him about my entry (I did not do it on my own accord, not did I recommend this action, because I believe KJs are in control of how the show moves) When I finally made my way to the stage, the volume was mixed improperly (something I noticed happens with people he doesn't favor, regulars I supposed) and he picked a shortened version of my selected song. So basically I didn't get to finish. The crowd even realized this and was in favor of me finishing Acapella, which I continued to do (very nicely done, I might add) only for him to cut my mic off and chastise me with disrespectful language, telling me to GTFO. I never mentioned it was my birthday, and I was very excited to make this the first place in Houston that I sang Karaoke. It left such a bad taste in my mouth and a willingness to find a new location to have fun at.
TL;DR: Come for the food & some drinks, stay for the vibes. If singing is your passion, maybe scout out some other locations in another...
Read moreOn the night of 03/26/2024, my partner and I went to grab a few drinks at this establishment. We went straight to the bar as it was already late. A thin woman was bartending and did not smile one time at me when I was asking for my drinks. I took it as that was her demeanor and just tried to have a good time. We started dancing and I had to go to the bathroom. My partner stayed behind and kept smoking the hookah. On my way to the bathroom, I started taking pictures of the wall art and when I turn around I started recording him. When I talked to my partner later on after we left, he said that she tried to get his attention by dancing and when she realized that I was watching, she stopped and went to the back.
The lack of extreme disrespect this portrayed was unreal. Once he told me what had happened, I was beyond upset and ruined my entire night. I dont come to pay you a tip for you to disrespect me and my relationship. Straight up the audacity you have to do that infront of me when Im paying YOUR WAGE. You sure didnt smile at me but decided to smile at my boyfriend. She clearly knew that we were together and still decided to flirt with him. I added a snapshot of a video I caught of her before she started pointing at him dancing and trying to get his attention. Next time be cautious of what youre doing because you never know whos looking.
This is an extremely unfortunate review as we were traveling and trying to make the best of our night. Besides the low class bartender, the manager was super sweet. I wish I wouldve known what had happened before I left or else I wouldve told him right then and there what happened. I hope management takes action and there are repercussions for this type of behavior. I hope they can instill some kind of decorum to this childish, low class bartender. If you would like to see the full video, please contact me.
Very unfortunate that this ruined my vacation and I will never step foot at this establishment again and will warn all my fellow local Houstonians not...
