Y'all, I need to take a seat for this. Every single fiber of my being yearns for it, and I get emotional just thinking about it. This is, by far, THE best Chinese BBQ pork (cha siu) in Houston. Competition? What competition. Siu Lap City is so much better than everyone else that they sit comfortably at the top unopposed. Even their leftovers (if you manage to even have leftovers) is leagues ahead of all the other Chinese BBQ shops. Since their days as the former Long Sing Supermarket, my family has been loyal customers for decades. The closure of their old location left a void in our lives, so we were ecstatic to hear about their new location. Their cha siu is special...magical, even. They have masterfully achieved the perfect balance of sweet and salty in their marinade, and the flavor permeates through the meat. Their cuts are pretty lean, but aren't too tough and dry as one might expect. My perfect slice of cha siu would be a lean cut with just a smidgen of the burnt ends, which lets you experience a deeper range of the cha siu's flavor and texture. But don't sleep on their other meat offerings. The roast pork is just as good as the cha siu and remains my favorite in Houston. The roast duck and soy sauce chicken, though not my favorite from Siu Lap City, are also solid choices. My one, minor complaint would be their steamed chicken as it's rather mediocre in both texture and flavor. Pro tip: buy the cha siu by the pound, sliced, and throw it into your fried rice, instant ramen, stir fry, or anything else where you might use cha siu to instantly elevate your dish sevenfold. If you like Chinese BBQ and you haven't been to Siu Lap City, you owe it to yourself, and you owe it to your family. Get the cha siu. You can thank me later.

They’re out of veggies by 4:30pm most days so if you haven’t hade it there by then they won’t make more and it’s a very “sorry too bad for you” kind of vibe. 3/26 I asked if the ribs were beef and he said yes, after making the box he says no it’s pork. I don’t eat pork, so I just payed $14 for a plate I’m not gonna eat. It was 1pm on a Sunday and they weren’t gonna make more veggies or fried rice it was just steamed rice and boq choy. I’m not coming back, if you haven’t made it here in time for there to be food you can see that you wanna eat don’t bother getting anything. 4/18 I came back. Roasted duck is hard to find right, and it’s good. But the lady wanted to charge me $2 extra for half boc choy and half veggies and when she served the next guy he got waaaaay more veggies than me. I guess I should just find somewhere else, it’s $14 to use your card you might as well Uber eats your duck from another restaurant and save yourself the headache of having to park here. Extra parking is on the roof if that helps. And I’m not loving all the bones either.

Update: Went to order our usual favorite to go: 2 pounds of Char Siu and 2 pounds of roasted pork belly. Char Siu was dry and seasoned with just salt. The pork belly was also dry but the fat was not rendered. Kind of disgusting and very disappointed. Will not return. ——————//—————- 2023 Love this family run Asian BBQ place. Good roasted pork belly ($11.99/lb) and roasted duck. Their daily lunch is also fast, good and of good value. As the picture shows, they’re a popular destination for lunch. They can be a bit terse when the line is long so read the menu quickly and have an idea what you want. Today, there is 3 choices of veggies, 6 choices of meats, including BBQ roasted pork, roasted duck, and soy chicken. Today, I got the fried ribs, roasted pork belly, and winter melon. Looks delicious! Also came to get 2 pounds of roasted pork belly, 1 pound Xa Xiu/Char Chiu (marinated lean pork). I ask them to not cut it so I can re-bake it and cut it to my family’s preference for dinner. The roasted pork belly goes fast so it can be gone by 2 pm.

Best Chinese bbq in Houston!

My husband and I have been supporting this small business since back in the Long Sing supermarket days in the early 2000's. Extremely proud of their new standalone restaurant and their food is still the same - juicy, delicious, and amazing!

Customer service is superb in my opinion - they get things done quickly and are very kind at checkout. I will say this - AVOID BEING ON YOUR PHONE WHEM ORDERING. The employees find it rude and time consuming when their goal is to serve in a punctual manner - so they'll probably skip you or skip out on their customer service.

Their BBQ pork is BOMB. Definitely beats all the other places and especially with that sauce they pour over - YAAAAAAAAASSSS! They give you PLENTY - enough to eat again later on. They're not shy about filling up that to go plate with lots of rice and meat.

I enjoy getting my duck on Bellaire but their roasted duck is serious business. Very juicy, flavorful, and delicious.

Parking kind of sucks - and it's best to avoid lunch hour on the weekdays... but they get you in and out the door so don't be intimidated by...
