Jack in the Box — Restaurant in Houston

This location has a lot of problems. When I reached the counter, neither of the 2 counter servers acknowledge me. I was standing right in front of them, and all they did was chit chat between the two. I didn't say anything, just waiting to see how long it was going to take, before one of them would acknowledge me. After about 10 min. They started to pull their cash drawer out to change shifts. During this shift change, there was nothing but chaos. One person was complaining about an employee being in the restroom to long. Another complaining about overtime. For the last 15 min. I was the only person waiting to be serviced. While people were coming and going a line built up behind me. Finally, 20 min later I was finally asked if I had been helped. I gave my order, #10 combo. A spicy Chicken sandwich with Cheese, regular Fries with a Soda. I also ordered 1 order of Tacos and a small order of Egg Rolls. While I was giving my order, I was interrupted by another customer wanting Ice, because their Soda/Ice Machine was out of Ice. The Cashier took care of that customer request for Ice, leaving me hanging. When she came back, she didn't repeat my order. I was told my total and she walked away again. Now then after paying, I was handed my soda cup. I had to stop her to remind her, that the machine was out of Ice. I then went into the dinning area to set down my filled soda, napkins, and take my coat off. So now I was just sitting there waiting for my order. As I was waiting, I noticed the Homeless, coming and going. Many of them trying to use the restroom. Others sitting in the dining area. One customer actually bought one of them a meal. Now another 10 min had gone by, so I went up to the counter to check on my order. Quite a few people were waiting for their orders. While I was watching them prepare my meal, I heard one employee inform the cook that he didn't finish making my order. It was another 5 min before I finally received my order. As I started to take my food out of the bag, I noticed that my order was indeed incorrect. Instead of a small order of Egg Rolls, I was giving a large order. I checked my receipt and sure enough, I was charged for a large. I would have complained, but there was to many people up at the counter, several complaining about taking to long. While I was eating, a Homeless Man grabbed a soda cup from the trash can and headed to the soda machine. One employee shouted across room at him, saying, "Don't even try that!" So he went back to the trash can and started rummaging through it. He found a bag with some food in it, then sat in the dining area and started to eat what food he found in the trash. Again, the Homeless were coming in and out. Shortly after, I saw a guy quickly go out the door. All of a sudden, with customers still at the counter, the 2 front counter servers went running and hollering out the door for that guy who just left. About 5 min later they came back, laughing and joking about how the other was had, on accepting forged $20 bill along with giving the guy actual change. Now if you don't mind waiting a long time to be serviced, and being begged at. You can stay and watch...

I've revised my review greatly! I've visited this place twice in the last 30 days they have improved greatly at least through the drive-thru, thank you! Late night shift.

Everything that comes with this area is still there aka the people walking up to your car asking for help, I understand. That does not affect my review. Past review about 5 months ago: I gave one star.. that's up from where they were at. I don't know why i decide to try them again because in the past I've had rude service and horrible food at the location but it is the only thing open on the way home, close. And it doesn't ever matter what combo you order they always try to upsell you to a larger size without asking and tell you it's the tax that's why it's more than what you expected. So this morning I tried to get breakfast (their professionalism has improved at the drive-thru very nice) but same as always I guess they're trained to up sell. Not a big deal but was specific and I asked what comes with the combo and they did say orange juice and hash brown so I'm like great give me the combo. So when I asked why was it more expensive than advertised they said the orange juice was extra and offered coffee instead. I said my mistake and drove off. I'll guess I'll stick to Whataburger foods/service is...

I just left there at (0300hrs) and I asked the employee working the drive-thru (African American Female, Brown Complexion, 5’4, Heavy Build, with a Gold Tooth in her mouth) “what comes on the Loaded Breakfast Sandwich 🥪 “, and the employee replies for me to read the sign. My immediate thought was to give her a taste of her own medicine and become rude with her, however I did not. I drove to the drive thru window and asked her “why were you rude to me”, and she replied “I ain’t fixing to play with you, and you need to read sign”. I explained the sign does not tell me what is on the sandwich, and what should I do - draw a conclusion by just the picture alone. After saying all that she read the contents, but still conducted herself in a rude manner by reading loudly and acting as if I was bothering her.

I didn’t order anything because after her actions I wasn’t for certain that she wouldn’t retaliate against me in some way in regards to handling my food order.

I usually don’t even bother with writing a review but many that travel in the Downtown Houston and Medical Center area frequent this location, and should definitely be mindful when encountering this individual. I never asked for her name, however her description should narrow down the specific individual I came in...
