I was searching for a nice sit down Chinese restaurant since my last favorite place closed down recently. I came across Red Pepper and decided to give it a go since I was in the area, I'm sure glad I did! This place has to be the best Chinese food I've ever had, seriously. We ordered the General Tsos chicken and Orange chicken to split with each other, there was so much food we couldn't finish it all! The chicken is extremely fresh, cooked and breaded to perfection and the sauces are mind-blowing! I saw they also had some spinach dumplings on the menu, something I've never come across before so I decided to give them a go. They were nice to try, but I don't think I'd order them again since they just weren't my thing. The drinks come out in these large cups, something the owners son was telling us about how alot of the people that go to a gym close by would come in and drink a ton at a time so they wound up giving everyone these excessively large containers to drink out of since especially during the Houston heat waves would be a godsend. The tea was freshly brewed by the way, great taste. The owners son was talking to us quite a bit about the history of the restaurant and some of the dishes since it was a bit slow when we went which it was nice to get to know the local business owners as I tend to stray away from corporate chain restaurants. The absolute only reason I'm dropping a star, wishing I could just ding them half a star, is the decorations of the dining area. It mostly looks inside like a hip dining area for old people in the 80's with a mirror that takes up a whole wall. I don't shy away from looking myself in the mirror every morning but I don't really want to watch myself eat or watch my own every move and facial expression while I'm out for a good meal. That being said, it's extremely clean, the food is excellent and I can't wait for my next visit...
Read moreYesterday I went to this establishment to get a quick bite to eat. It didn’t work out so well for me In the beginning.
The waiter was very, very rude, and basically kicked me out of the establishment Simply, because I ordered food and decided to eat it there At the time they were not at all busy.
I got my money back and then I left without any food. I was so hungry.
About an hour to an hour and a half later I went back with my daughter it was convenient due to we were at the lash place next-door.
My daughter and I decided we will get food after we leave the lash place. and we didn’t want to drive far.
if you know me, I needed a quick snack and pick me up so I decided to go to red pepper Chinese restaurant to get a snack but like I said, the waiter was very rude.
I got my money back and I left.
The reason he was so rude was do to I changed my mind about taking it to go
later me and my daughter went back. I ordered food she ordered food. We were a lot happier. I had to let go what the employee did to me earlier and move past it .
I did finally realize that the owner was there, and I brought my concern to him. He actually listened to me.
He was very helpful and explained the situation and he fixed it and so me and my daughter may go back in the future. Our food was good and Mr. Harold the owner was very nice. He assured me he would talk w the rude waiter and set the record straight.
So you go and see for yourself what you think but this is my honest review...
Read moreThe place was impeccable and very clean. And you could smell the freshness of the food as you walked in. The place was very sanitary. Our accountant, who is a regular there, took us out for dinner. The food was delicious! However, the person who served us was very distracted and appeared to be disoriented. She took our order incorrectly and brought he wrong dish to the two men in my table. I asked her if I could have a slice of cheesecake ( since it is listed on the menu), and she said they don't serve that. Our accountant asked the man behind the counter to check if they had cheesecake, and it turned out that yes, they did have it.
I do not know if the lady that was serving us was feeling unwell, but her service left much to be desired. I can't distinguish if there was a language barrier or if she was being careless. She was being very sloppy, especially to a very important customer who goes there multiple times a week and who expects excellence. He was clearly disappointed, but he also recognized that perhaps she was a new employee.
So, for the above reasons, I was unable to give 5 stars. Also, the restaurant was almost empty and it took almost an hour to have dinner out. On a busy day this could be expected. On a Sunday night with only two tables occupied, makes me wonder why it took so long. Still... It was...
