UPDATE TO PREVIOUS REVIEW: With all the taco options available in the Houston area, go somewhere else! The staff at this location is clearly not well trained, or just doesn't care, but either way the food you order will not be what you get. We gave it one more shot to see if they could make up for the previously disappointing trip, and not only were they unable to do that, but failed in an entirely different way. I ordered the brisket tacos which are supposed to come with BBQ sauce on the side. Not only was there no sauce, but the meat was dry and chewy. Next, my wife order the Chicken Fajita Tacos with Peppers and Onions. I don't know about anyone else, but one slice of green pepper that has been overcooked does not constitute peppers, and the chicken looked as if it had been on the grill all day long. It was almost crunchy in its texture. Sorry guys but 3 strikes and you are out! We won't be visiting this location any more and I would suggest the same of others. Looking forward to something and only getting poor service and frustration is not enjoyable. We really enjoy the food from here, but unfortunately we have had numerous disappointing trips to our local location. Often we are heading home from work and want to hit the drive thru and grab a quick bite, but we find mistakes typically in our orders. Tonight for example my wife ordered the Chicken Fajita Tacos with Peppers & Onions, only to arrive home and find no peppers or onions. It is hard to unwrap your food items in the drive thru to check and make sure the order is correct so the staff needs to take the time to double check the correctness of the order before handing it to the customer. Read moreIn the last three weeks I’ve had poor customer service from this location. Three weeks ago I ordered two crispy chicken tacos and a mango strawberry margarita and the food was cold. I attempted to contact the store and the phone just rang and rang. I went in the next day and requested to have my food replaced. The manager was very rude and acted like she did not want to replace my food. One of the regular Employees had to make her replace the order. The same employee apologized for the service that I received the previous day and from the manager. Last week I ordered the same thing but i was charged for a burrito as well. I took that into the location and requested a refund. The manager took a long time so I left without confirming that she actually processed the refund. Yesterday I went to this Location again and placed the same order. I was told that I had to wait 10 minutes for the crispy taco shells. After waiting for 10 minutes my order was brought to the car and I drove off. It was then that I realized that I was given the ground beef tacos instead. I drove back to the location for them to correct my order. I contacted customer service to let them know about my last three visits. I called the store this morning to speak to a manager and she was very rude. She placed me on hold but hung up on me. When I called her back she argued with me that she did not hang up on me. Read moreGrowing up in San Antonio, I grew fond of Taco Cabana. At the time, there were only 3 locations, but it was a great concept with 24 hour Mexican food. I traveled many miles to get a late night snack.
This review is not about the food. The food is certainly decent (3-4 stars depending on the item ordered). It is consistent as a chain, but I have found noticeable differences in the level of salt content. The Jones Rd location tends to be too salty, whereas this location has less items that I would say is too salty.
As far as catering, I would not use this location as they are unprofessional and rude. I thought I put in an order online but apparently there was a glitch. So I called to get a status. I was informed that they did not receive my order and he asked for my order. He told me that I needed to make arrangements a day earlier since it was a large order. Great - I was already in a bind but online took my order so when I told him that and he seemed put off and said he needed at least 45 minutes. He also said to call immediately if I wanted the order. Once I got approval, I tried calling back (5 minutes later). I guess the phone over there had a problem because I called 7 times over the next 20 minutes ringing at least 20 times. No answer.
