I’m gonna be real here, cause I don’t want to trash on any business not even a growing one like this one. But I’ve had not 1 but 3 bad experiences.
First time I came I got some non-dairy flavor and it was really gross. But that happens sometimes cause non-dairy uses coconut milk which gives ice cream a nasty flavor. Service was a 4/10 at best. Second time I came the place was full of middle eastern immigrants talking so loudly you could hear them, literally, from down the street. I stood there and waited in line trying to talk to my girlfriend, she couldn’t hear a word. No exaggeration. Regular Ice cream was alright at best (I took a lactose pill). I understand it was just one guy working, but it wouldn’t kill him to tell the group to keep it down. I didn’t cause I’m not the one in charge of the establishment. Third time, I was in the area, and my girlfriend suggested we go. She is a big fan of caramel so we got the cookies and cream caramel ice cream for like 8.50. It was actually a 2/10 , max. We ended up throwing it out a couple bites in.
Unfortunately I don’t plan on returning, Im not a critical guy at all and this is one of the only bad reviews I’ve ever written. 3 visits and I have yet to be even slightly impressed...
Read moreVan Leeuwen Ice Cream is hands-down one of the most luxurious and satisfying ice cream experiences you can have. Every scoop feels like a decadent treat, with ultra-creamy texture and rich, thoughtfully developed flavors that set it apart from typical store brands. Whether it’s a classic like Honeycomb or a more adventurous option like Earl Grey Tea or Brown Sugar Chunk with Cookie Dough, each flavor feels crafted with care and creativity. You can truly taste the quality ingredients — from real cream and egg yolks to premium mix-ins — and it makes all the difference.
What really makes Van Leeuwen shine is how inclusive it is without sacrificing taste. Their vegan line is shockingly good — flavors like Vegan Chocolate Fudge Brownie are just as luscious and indulgent as their dairy counterparts. It’s rare to find an ice cream brand that nails both ends of the spectrum so perfectly. Whether you’re treating yourself on a hot summer day or winding down with a pint after dinner, Van Leeuwen delivers a consistently...
Read moreI'd been very excited about Van Leeuwen opening a Houston location but my first experience here was really disappointing. Considering their storefront sign promotes their vegan ice cream, I was surprised that their employee didn't know/care if their sugar cones were vegan or not. When I asked the employee, she said she didn't know ...so I asked her if she could check, to which she just responded "I don't think it's vegan" (I'm assuming because she didn't want to have to ask someone else), which is weird because standard sugar cones typically are vegan. Normally not a big deal, but very disappointing for a store whose vegan ice creams are a big part of their brand. Next, this employee proceeded to give me a cup with a comically tiny scoop of ice cream, which for $5.50 was outrageous. My friend was served by another employee and got a noticeably larger scoop. I think my experience here had more to do with the specific employee than with the store overall, but it was still a very poor...
