I ordered my food online through the Submarine House website. It was delivered through Door Dash. The order was incorrect. I called the store and the manager apologized and offered a remake and a credit off of a future order. I just asked for my food to be correct and nothing more. The manager immediately expedited a remake. When I went to the restaurant I noticed that it was decently busy. The staff seemed overwhelmed. There was an extremely rude customer in there that had the server's in tears. I spoke to Lizzy, whom was behind the bar. She was upset because of said customer. Upon talking to her, she explained how under staffed she was and she can't find any candidate's worth hiring. I explained to her that I manage a branch of a 5 billion dollar company. I can't find help worth hiring either. I completely understand what their location is going through. By the end of our conversation she was feeling much better and it even ended in a hug. I receive my food, and the staff asked for me to double check it. It was perfectly made. They even threw in a side of fries and gave me extra sauces. They thanked me for my patience and we parted ways very happy with each other. I am in customer service and have been for several years. I manage a branch of a 5 billion dollar business. My transactions consist of tens of thousands of dollars at a time. Customers that pay that kind of money in a single transaction can be ruthless. Especially when they wait 15 minutes for construction equipment to be loaded on their trailers. A lot of companies are suffering staffing issues. The candidates worth hiring are already working. When a hiring manager finds said candidate they have to pay a premium. This in turn drives up the cost of the consumer products. This in turn contributes to inflation. We are all human and have feelings. We are all doing the best we can with what we have. Please instead of being rude and irate talk to your customer service and talk out the issue. I was always told, "You get more bees with honey than vinegar." My hats off to the staff at Submarine House for doing as well as they did with what little they have as far as staff. I will continue to be a customer of...
Read moreThis is now one of our favorite "friends & family" places to gather, relax and eat. The food has been consistently terrific, portions are generous, and the table service has been superb. The atmosphere is very laid back and unpretentious. A roll of brown paper towels on the table should give you an idea what to expect. Put on your jeans and leave your Easter suit and dress at home.
We've gotten the Sampler appetizer twice, where you can pick any 3 different items out of 6 available. This is a sure crowd pleaser to get the meal off to a great start. Both of the times that we went the kitchen was so quick that the meal showed up before we were even done with the appetizer!
Great daily drink specials 7 days a week. Both times we went they had tall domestic drafts for $2. The subs are great. The bread is hollowed out in the middle, giving you more of the good stuff and less bread, and they toast the bread to perfection on the grill before assembling the sub. They seriously have this down to an art! My daughter got the Super Gyro yesterday and was really wowed, and she doesn't impress easily.
CAUTION!! A whole sub is a whopping 16"! Thank goodness for the ½ and ¼ sub options, unless you want to take tomorrow's lunch home with you!
I had never tried fried pickles before but, based on other comments and my daughter's insistence, I gave them a try yesterday. I think I've just found a new fun food, but it's still second place in my heart to their fried mushrooms!
Our server each time has been a pleasant, enthusiastic and energetic young lady named Kate. She absolutely added to our overall experience and enjoyment! I don't recall when I've seen someone work as hard! As the key front-line person who represents the face of the business, Kate is a valuable asset to Submarine House and she does them proud! Her smile, attentiveness to detail and enthusiasm serve her well now and will serve her in the future, wherever life should take her. As business owners, my wife and I would hire her in a New York minute!
Overall, these folks have done a terrific job of combining a relaxed atmosphere, delicious food and great...
Read moreAbsolutely horrific experience at the Huber Heights submarine house location. We got to the restaurant at approximately 7:05 PM and ordered food by 7:10 PM. Our waitress informed us that there would be a 30-40 minute wait on food and we agreed to wait that amount of time. My fiancé and I ended up ordering a basket of chips around 7:40 PM and we didn’t get that brought out to us until 8 PM. By 8:25 PM, we still didn’t have the food we ordered. We ordered an 8 inch sub, a pizza and a kids meal cheese pizza. Several tables that got there before us had their foods served to them and left by the time ours even came out (or lack thereof food coming out). Our waitress was pleasant, but she was incredibly dismissive over the amount of time that it was taking to get our entrees out. She told us on two separate occasions that “our food is coming out” and there was still NO FOOD by 8:25 PM. This is absolutely unacceptable. My fiancé and I decided that we would pay for the basket of chips that we ordered and were given and then leave (without our food). We told our waitress that we would no longer wait and she continued to say that our food would be out soon, but we told her we’d pay for the chips and that we were leaving. She did apologize for the amount of time it took for our food to come out but that was the end of it. I don’t feel like she made any attempt to try to make this negative experience right. I am very, very, very disappointed in the service we received tonight and am even more upset that not a single employee tried to make it right. We love going to this restaurant/location, we love the food and the atmosphere, but we will never go back again. This is the second negative experience we have had at this location....
