Amanda provided the best service I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant. My recent lunch at Denny's took a decidedly more substantial turn with the T-Bone Steak & Eggs. While Denny's is often associated with breakfast staples, this combination proved to be a surprisingly satisfying and protein-packed midday meal.
The star of the plate was undoubtedly the 13 oz. seasoned T-Bone steak. While expectations for a diner steak might be tempered, I was pleasantly surprised. It was cooked to a decent medium (as I requested), and while not the thickest cut you'll find, it was reasonably tender and had a good, savory seasoning that enhanced the natural flavor of the beef. It certainly wasn't a gourmet steakhouse experience, but for a diner offering, it held its own and provided a good amount of protein to fuel the rest of my day.
The two eggs, cooked over easy, were classic Denny's – simple and well-executed. The yolks were runny, perfect for dipping my toast and adding richness to the meal. They complemented the steak nicely, as expected in this traditional pairing.
The meal also came with a generous portion of hash browns. These were the typical Denny's hash browns – golden brown and crispy on the edges, with a soft, slightly starchy interior. They provided a good textural contrast to the steak and eggs and were a welcome carbohydrate component of the meal. My choice of toast was standard white toast, served warm and buttered, ideal for soaking up the runny egg yolk.
The service was again a highlight. My server was friendly and attentive, ensuring my drink was refilled and checking in without being intrusive. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, especially considering a steak was involved.
Overall, ordering the T-Bone Steak & Eggs for lunch at Denny's was a surprisingly enjoyable and substantial experience. It's a hearty option for those looking for a more protein-focused midday meal. While it might not compete with high-end steakhouses, it delivers a satisfying and flavorful combination at a reasonable price point for a diner. If you're looking for a departure from typical lunch fare and have a craving for steak and eggs, Denny's offers a dependable and...
Read moreUpdate: took a friend to brunch. Had the Philly steak omelet. It was very good.
Second update: I happened to be back in that area around lunchtime and decided to see what would happen if I went in for the free burger (see below). I was seated and I showed the note from the manager. The waitress/hostess went and got my water and the manager who appeared pleased that I took him up on his offer. He took my order himself and also served the burger himself. The burger looked and tasted much better but the mayo was left off. I didn't see my original waitress so I eventually flagged down another waitress and got some mayo. I ran out of water partway through the meal and placed my water glass toward the outer edge of the table to show it was empty in a silent request for a refill. I had also planned to order a different drink. The waitress who got the mayo walked by several times and a different waiter walked by a couple of times but I never saw my waitress again. Finally, after I had finished the meal and sat there for a few minutes, the manager came back to check on me. I told him that I had intended to leave a tip for my waitress but I never saw her again. It turned out that she had to leave and no one took over my table. I literally did not have a waitress to leave a tip for. So, yesterday both food and service was bad, and today the food was good but the service was non-existent.
Update: reduced a star. Very poor experience. Poor service and poor food. The only reason I didn't reduce it more than one star was because the manager tried to make it right in the end by offering a free burger next time I came in.
Good food. Only complaint was that the bacon wasn't crispy enough, however I usually specify crispy and this time I forgot. Waitress was personable, fast...
Read moreI never write reviews but today was the only day me and my husband had a bad experience here . When me and husband walked in no one was at the front to seat us down for a good 15 minutes. Me and my husband sat ourselves down and grabbed our own menus . It took an additional 15 minutes for a waitress to even acknowledge us . When we had ordered our drinks it took an additional 15 minutes to just get our drinks. We’re giving the waitress our order and she writes nothing down. My husband ordered a brisket and all melt meal with a side of extra eggs . His eggs were still raw and so was his turkey bacon and his side of eggs was not even given and our appetizer sampler. The waitress’s excuse was “ I forgot to add it on to the order” .Our food came out first than the appetizer. Like the appetizer should’ve been the first thing. Like really that’s why you write stuff down instead of trying to memorize everything. We only had one refill the whole 3 hours we were there and no one checked up on us at all. I asked the waitress for napkins and she disappeared for an additional 30 minutes so my husband had to get up and grab napkins from the restroom because again no one was in the front. When it came to paying we never received our ticket to pay so we got up and went to the front. A gentlemen was also receiving the same horrible service we were. It took two people to come out 20 minutes later. When we received the ticket the waitress tried saying my husband received his extra side of egg when he didn’t and they said they can’t take it off because supposedly he did get the extra side of egg . This used to be our go to dennys but not anymore after this type...
