Update: I added 2 stars back because my husband brought home a blueberry muffin and it was really good. So we've been kind of hooked on the muffins. I miss the peanut butter cookies but I'm not sure if I want to take a chance on them again. For now I'm happy to have the muffins.
Dropped 2 stars. Used to like this place and recently we've gone there more than a few times a week to pick up a few cookies for desserts. A few months ago there was something (looked like a piece of hair?) dried into the icing on the one that I got. It happens, but I needed to take them back. They apologized and replaced them on the next visit, which was nice. A couple weeks ago we noticed a difference in the peanut butter cookies. They had always been the same size and thickness as the snicker doodles. I loved them, they were soft yet chewy. But one day they were quite a bit smaller and much thicker. Well, that's fine, same amount of cookie. But they didn't adjust the cooking time for the added thickness and so the inside wasn't cooked properly. We let the owner know that it was still raw and we were taken aback by what he said. He asked if that was good or bad? 😳 There is a big difference between a chewy cookie and a raw one. Raw flour and eggs can be dangerous. Nevertheless, we thought they would fix it. They didn't. Today my husband brought home a peanut butter cookie and I'm enjoying it until I take a bite out of the center and it's cookie dough. (See picture) I'm very...
Read moreThe birthday cake I ordered was supposed be red velvet with all purple icing and white lettering. I was very specific with the gentleman on 8/22 as I knew it was a very unique ask. The cake I picked up has all white icing and purple lettering (and I was then concerned may not be red velvet). As soon as I saw it, I expressed to the young lady that it was not correct. She inquired about what was wrong as she looked at the order slip- which I shared. She then proceeded to say ‘well, that’s our fault’ and offered nothing more. I asked if there was a manager or someone I could speak with and she pointed out the business card on the counter. It took several asks for her to finally tell me it was Barry that I should speak with on Monday..
I again let her know it was very disappointing as my autistic son asked for a specific cake from your bakery- and it is not correct. Again, she stared at me and offered nothing. At that point, I had no choice be to take the cake because I paid for it the day I ordered it- when the young gentleman asked that I pay that day and not on pick up day.
If you know anyone with autism, I am in hopes that my son does not reject this birthday cake tomorrow (which is highly likely), because it is not what he asked for.
I felt this is something you all should know.
*To note: the above is the exact email I sent the bakery the day I picked up the cake with pictures (8/24) and received...
Read moreWe drove to Huntersville to visit our Uncle and Aunt and wanted to bring them a yummy treat this morning! We purposely looked for a local bakery to support small business. Upon my entrance, the woman came out from the back and did not welcome me, but stared at me. I greeted her kindly and asked if they made Gluten Free pastries. She said, “A Bakery does not make gluten free.” In which I said “some do! but i’m here, so i’ll grab a couple of these beautiful pastries for my family.” She continued “no... they don’t... that’s just factory food.. you might as well go to Harris Teeter.” I went ahead and ordered two huge pastries and then asked for one of their boxes instead of two bags so that I could present it as a gift to my family. She says ,”we don’t have boxes.” Note, the boxes were right behind her. I asked again, “what about the box right behind you?!” she sighed, rolled her eyes then walked over to grab a foam takeout box” I continued “oh, I meant the one right there! I’d love to present it pretty to my aunt and uncle!” In which she then came up to the register and said “No. those are much too big.” I simply said, “you are right... I should just go to Harris Teeter, have a good day” and walked out.
Small Business should equal great customer service. NOTE: went to harris teeter down the street... the women at bakery BOTH welcomed me and asked how they could help and I got a pretty...
