Read moreGrand opening day! I expected a wait, but it was odd. The outside patio seemed like the superior option with the perfect weather, but they didn't have servers for the outside. There were also only 6 long tables outside. If you sit there, prepare to share. Our date night was shared with 3 other consecutive groups. We opted for the patio and the hosts agreed that it would be the faster option. The patio is first come, first serve. If you want food or a drinks, you have to order at the bar. You also have to periodically check back to see if it's ready...they don't bring it out to you (though I did see it happen a few times). The biggest problem is actually getting your order placed. Don't make the mistake of ordering drinks, and then coming back to order your food. Have all your requests ready. It took an hour just to place the order. The bar is surrounded by layers of people. Unfortunately, those who wait to be seated come to the bar or go to the patio and take up space, creating the first wall between you and your order. Then, there are the myriad behind them waiting to get the attention of the bartenders. The main mixer I saw seemed quite slow. Also, most of the beer pours produced massive heads...the carbonation most have been nuts in the kegs. This created even longer waits. For example, they stated the Milk Stout takes 10-15 minutes to pour. Lastly, my meal was forgotten and then gotten wrong. But I was later sought after later with the right order.
Now, that leads me to the actual food and drinks. They offer massive, 1 liter steins of several brews for $9-$11, which was fun. The Weinerschnitzel entre with potatoes in bacon marmalade was good, not great. The pretzel was very good. The salad was also very good.
If the whole process had been smoother, the experience and even the taste of the food might have improved. Yet, I get that it's early days. But, you only get a chance or two (if you're lucky) to convince someone of a place's value. I'll come back and will adjust my rating...
Read moreThe bar / restaurant are a great concept with amazing seating spaces and overall vibe. Saturday afternoon lunch (not busy) stood in line at the front door for about 10 minutes and a red headed young woman said, "OMG, there are people at the door." At first, I didn't think anything of it. I was seated outside (per my request) and then I noticed the lack of attention of the wait staff for other people sitting outside. I moved to the bar (I was alone). Bartender was pleasant and engaging. Gave me some recommendations on the "favorites". I chose the Lincoln Radler as a drink, but he spent all the time trying to find the ingredients (they were out of the vodka to make the Manmosa) for the Manmosa. I gently reminded him that I ordered the Lincoln Radler. A group (with an elderly man) of 6 moved from outside to inside...then ended up ordering their drinks at the bar. It had been 20 minutes for them and they still had no one ask about a drink order, let alone their food order. I ordered my food when my drink arrived knowing that there was an issue with timeliness. 2 other people who ordered after me received their food. Mine came to me cold (fries and chicken sausage). hmpf. Then a gentleman came to the bar (seated outside) to order his drinks and said, "Its been 20 minutes and we still haven't ordered a drink." I asked to see the manager to share my concern about my experience and also the other customers. Dathan (the manager) was dismissive and excusing of our experiences. Stating that he is understaffed. He did not offer an apology. He did not offer to make up for the REALLY bad experience. Instead, he argued that my food was not cold and did not go to touch my fries that were cold or touch my chicken sausage. Both, cold. hmpf. Great concept. Bad management. Not customer...
