I have been to this restaurant a bunch since they have opened in 2021 and must say the service has down graded a ton, night, and day level of service. The hostess was more than rude, I stood waiting 15 minutes before I wad even remotely acknowledged, I was ignored when I was attempting to find out the wait time since I had been ignored for the first 15 minutes. Then when the lady acknowledged what I was asking, she told me briskly that she was trying to get everyone seated; mind you there were three vacant tables, no one in front of me cause they finally seated a another couple that had waited a while and a group that came after me. So she then asked if the people behind me came first I don't know if that was it signal something ignorantly distasteful, but me and the couple that waited a extremely long time had to wait a rather long time and we are all AA and the Asian or White patrons following were greeted and also acknowledged for seating with less seating availability. The only reason I did not just leave was I had waited a bit, had a craving, and was starving. I just couldn't believe the rude service overall and then how even the server greeted everyone but me and how quick he was with others and how he checked on them I got my food basically without any service or acknowledgement, not even a drink refilll. They even apologized for the wait and asked if the other patrons needed anything else, unlike me having to ask for napkins and never getting sauce. It's goes without saying that this was last time as the only time the server came was to ask if my bill was ready, so I politely took my time and finished my food as I deserved to.
Hopefully, it is not a race thing, but it's baffling. I'm so shocked overall this place started out so great for me idk if there was a staff turn over or what but I'm just without words for the difference in service and then the out fight display of indifference to paying customers. But eventhough I was treated not so well I just followed the mantra of kill them with kindness, eventhough it sucks to literally pay for service and not receive it not nearly to the level of the...
Read moreAvoid to go orders. The curry is not good (maybe everything was pretty bad this time except the sushi).
So to preface this my wife had been here twice and me once at this point. We had been thoroughly impressed. She always gets the fried chicken poke bowl. I try something different each time to discern what I like best. I tried the chicken ramen and loved it. I had a bite of hers and it was incredible. The sushi was great. The service friendly. Then we ordered take out. I decided to try the beef curry and she went with the fried chicken poke bowl again. I tried the curry expecting greatness and immediately came to the conclusion it was below average and I would never order it again. It was ok just pretty bland. In a world with Phucket and Viet Cuisine this curry is never going to be an option (its possible it is usually ok we later learned this was a bad experience all around). Then my wife tried the soup. She took a single bite and said it was all mine. I then tried a bite and understood why. It was terrible. Then she started her poke bowl and we realized everything was bad this time around. I tried a bite and the super flavorful and delicious poke bowl we loved was plain veggies and white rice. Before it basically tasted like a sushi roll in a bowl. The only good thing and to be fair it was excellent was the sushi. I got the eel roll and she got the spicy yellowtail. Right now we hope that the problem is just with to go orders and learned our $40 lesson. We probably will go again just because the previous experiences were so good. My advice as of this moment is do not order take out. I hope that the curry I got was just a bad batch like the poke bowl and soup. That being said I probably am not brave enough to try it again after that. Hopefully I can update this with a review of how this was just one unusually bad experience and give them the 5 stars the previous...
Read moreWhen I entered the restaurant I was immediately struck by the dingy atmosphere. The restaurant felt hot and humid, which made for an uncomfortable dining experience. Fly strips hanging in the kitchen were an unpleasant sight, and the visible dust deposits on the ducts indicated a need for thorough cleaning. Additionally, the air conditioners were leaking on the walls, adding to the overall feeling of neglect.
The bathrooms need attention; they had significant dust buildup and a general lack of cleanliness. While these issues don't directly affect food sanitation, they do raise concerns about the restaurant's overall attention to hygiene. If the visible areas are not well-maintained, one can only wonder about the conditions behind the scenes.
On a positive note, the food itself was good. We ordered ramen and edamame, both of which were enjoyable. However, the specialty drinks left much to be desired. The fruit tea was tasty, but the taro boba was very watered down and not worth the high price.
The tables were clean, and the employees were friendly, which provided some redeeming qualities to the dining experience. Nonetheless, the overall lack of cleanliness and maintenance significantly detracted from what could have been a much more pleasant visit.
In summary, while the food at Sushi Haven was enjoyable and the staff were pleasant, the poor upkeep of the restaurant's environment made it difficult to fully appreciate the meal. Addressing these cleanliness and maintenance issues would greatly improve the...
