This is my first time in Huntsville. I've been studying hard for my midterms and wanted to take a little break so I decided to go out and see downtown. I saw this place and thought it would be a great place to stop. The inside was cute had different t-shirts trinkets etc you could buy. The cashier didn't greet us but I said it was because she was busy talking to another customer. After she was done talking to the customer and the customer left she left the counter and walked to the back and started doing something in the back. Another lady came to the counter looking like she didn't want to serve us and that we were bothering her. I ordered a strawberry Boba and she acted like she didn't know what it was or how to fix it. I should've just walked out then. I get the drink or what you could consider a drink as it was liquid. It looked and tasted like plain water with strawberry Boba beads in the bottom. I also got a caramel iced latte and that was perfect. When the drinks were done she didn't say they were done she just sat the drinks on the counter with one straw and was walking away to put the receipt in the register. I got up to get my drinks and asked for another straw and she looked as though I asked for a million dollars or something and I had to ask 2 more times for another straw as she pointed out that she gave us a straw for the Boba drink and I said yeah but I need another one for my iced latte. I guess we were supposed to share the same straw. Lol she gave me the straw and told me the other straw was for the Boba drink. Um lady I knew that already. She rudely gave the straw and was still talking about the Boba drink. I just walked out. We didn't hear a have a nice day come again or anything and you can believe I will never go in there again. Never again will i give almost $15 for a cup of water with strawberries and a small latte to a business who clearly don't want or appreciate customers. Sorry for the long rant but I was disappointed and now I'm going to unwind and go back to study some more. Yall have a...
Read moreReally sweet little cafe / lunch spot tucked into the PNC building just steps from Big Spring Park! Cozy Cow has occupied this spot for a while, and it's a great lunch stop, especially for a picnic in the park or a quick work meal. It's also a good place to grab an ice cream treat and walk by the spring on a date, if that's more your style. :)
They have simple sandwiches with lots of different bread choices, a couple burgers, coffee, soda, tea, chips, a couple of lunch-type sides (potato salad, fruit cups, etc), baked goods, and Blue Bell ice cream available. The staff member who greeted me was helpful and warm, and his teammate who brought out my sandwich kindly asked if I needed a bag -- which I did, as I needed to cart my meal back to my car so I could take it home with me. A nice touch. :)
I ordered a simple grilled cheese with chips and a sweet tea and added on a peanut butter brownie because it looked too good to pass up. I have been to the Cow before, but only for ice cream, so I was excited to try their actual meal options. Overall, I enjoyed my sandwich - good balance of cheese and bread, the sourdough I selected was nice and had the chewiness that I love from that kind of bread. I wish they'd had regular, non-baked Lay's for my chips, but the Miss Vickie's did the trick, too. The sweet tea was really solid, not overly sweet, and fresh-tasting. I prefer my brownies without chocolate chips inside, but that's not a mark against the Cow really, just a personal preference. I ate around the chips and thoroughly enjoyed the gooey brownie and the peanut buttery icing goodness.
The inside of the shop has nice windows where you can look out and people watch, as well as a small patio if you'd rather eat outside. I enjoyed my walk to and from my car, just taking in all the sights of downtown. Give the Cozy Cow a try if you're looking for a wholesome sandwich-type...
Read moreI'm always excited to try out new restaurants. Although this eatery isn't new and has been around for years, I've always passed the location. However, the weather was beautiful today, and I wanted to work and eat outside. So, I decided to try out the Cozy Cow.
I arrived at the restaurant around 11:00 am, attempting to beat the lunch crowd. However, I was not greeted upon entering the establishment, which was no big deal at first. Four people were seated and waiting for food.
The wait allowed me to review the six-page printed menu, which was placed in a three-ring binder. There were a lot of options to choose from, which made me even more excited about my lunch decision. After five minutes, I started to get a little antsy. Then, realizing out of the four ladies working, not ONE greeted or acknowledged me. Did they see me standing at the counter? Ha! Yes, the restaurant is approximately 900 square feet, and I'm 5'11. Of course, they saw me.
To make matters worse, three city dignitaries walked in. I already knew how things would play out, and boy, was I right! As soon as they walked in, they were assisted immediately. I believe the men called in their order, but that should not matter. I was standing at the counter for TEN minutes without service. I checked my parking ticket to confirm my wait time. I was in the restaurant for ten minutes!!! Needless to say, I took my money elsewhere and received excellent service.
TIP: Here's a simple acronym I learned in my days of customer service. (Many years ago)
GREAT customer service starts at the...
