I will start with the good. The server and the hostess were very nice. The location of the restaurant is nice because it overlooks the park and it’s nice to walk around the park after dinner to burn off some calories. Now for the bad. I gave this place 2 stars because the food was just ehhh. I took my husband there for his birthday and we were rather disappointed with the food. I got the lasagna and he ordered the ravioli. The lasagna came out bubbling around the edges, but when I cut into it, it was luke warm in the center. The lasagna also tasted like a microwaveable lasagna. It lacked sauce and was dry. It had a sourness and saltiness to what sauce was there. Worst lasagna I have ever had, but it wasn’t so gross that I couldn’t eat it. I did box it up and took it home because it needed to be heated up as mine was served to me cool. I ate it the next day after I doctored it up a bit. My husband ordered an Old Fashioned and it was awful. I don’t think the bartender knew what they were doing. It tasted like cherry syrup and was bright red. It had two cherries and two orange slices in it and a large cube of ice, but hardly any liquid. The drink consisted of four sips and it was $10, so that’s not cool. His ravioli tasted like a frozen tv dinner just as the lasagna did. And the sauce was sour and salty too. Both meals said they came with garlic bread, but it didn’t get brought to us. I inquired about it and the server said they were phasing the bread out and you have to ask for it, that should say that in the menu if that’s the case. And what kind of Italian place phases out garlic bread?! She brought us the garlic bread and it looked like half of a hotdog bun and wasn’t very good. We sat outside on the patio which was nice, but they ended up seating two ladies at the table next to us. The tables were too close together, I could have reached over and put my had on the lady across from me. It was very very awkward for us. We couldn’t even really have a conversation because it was so awkward. There was plenty of room to put them at a different table on the patio, so I’m not sure why they chose to seat them there so close to us. Again, this place wasn’t horrible and the food wasn’t gross, but it just wasn’t worth $60 for food that seemed like a Stouffer’s tv dinner. Doubt that we will be back. It’s a shame too because I love the location, but I can’t justify that much money for what we were served. They would have to seriously revamp their menu or buy better product to serve people and teach the bartenders how to make cocktails properly. We didn’t say anything to anyone because what was the point? We didn’t want to be rude or have anyone spit in anything. We just paid and left. Opinions and taste varies, so you may feel differently about the food...
Read moreI have celiacs and ordered the gluten free pizza, what I was served was not gluten free, an hour or two later I threw up several times, this was after questioning the wait staff about the crust.
I was told that it was the correct crust and I had nothing to worry about because they have the best gluten free crust
I am 6 months pregnant and was visiting from out of town to see a concert. I was not able to attend the concert due to my experience at this restaurant.
If you are going to have gluten free offerings you need to be sure, without any doubt, that you know what you are serving customers and watch out for any cross contamination in the kitchen
I called the manager as a courtesy so this doesn’t happen to others and was met with - “oh yeah, we use a cauliflower crust” and he would get with the kitchen. He insinuated I should have known better (after confirming with the waitress that it was in fact GF)
Come on, even dominos can get it right
The least that they could have offered was a refund for the pizza, which was a far cry from the cost of the concert ticket
Atmosphere:
The inside of the restaurant is sterile and has a horrible atmosphere, it feels like being inside of a fast food chain. The decor had no direction with a mix between all white modern (not the good kind) and old world it was if you were in two different spaces that couldn’t make up their minds. The inside had one large table that made the space feel cramped being that it is an extremely small space, the table spacing leaves little room between tables. You felt as if you were going to trip over people walking through the space to get to the restroom
Service:
The waitress kept going on about the humidity, as if our request to sit outside was an inconvenience to her. I didn’t feel the need to explain I don’t like dining in my neighbors lap. She would not let it go. She should have cared a little more about the customer and the food...
Read moreThe family and I took advantage of the great fall weather to visit Big Spring International Park and enjoy downtown Huntsville. We decided to check out Pane E Vino Pizzeria because me and the kids love pizza and we'd never been to this restaurant. Bottom line up front: this place was great!
We were promptly seated out on the patio where we could people watch and enjoy the weather. Our drinks orders were taken promptly and we decided to order a few different pizzas. My daughter and I split the 16" Clemenza. It was was delicious -- the pepperoni and italian sausage pizza was great. I particularly enjoyed the thinly cut bell peppers (usually they are a tad raw and huge - these were very thinner sliced and cooked well). If you love sauce, I'd get some pizza sauce on the side to dip crust, that was the only downsides of the meal. The wife ordered the Da Vinci pizza which I was not a fan of; why would you order a pizza and then put a salad with balsamic vinegar on top? But she loved it and thought the pizza was very fresh. My youngest daughter got the kid's cheese pizza and it was awesome. It had great cheese pull and she scarred the whole thing. This was not one of those 'kids will eat whatever' meals, this was a great pizza in its own right. We got some Tiramisu to go and it was also delicious later at home.
Our server, Danielle, was awesome. She was the only server on thr outdoor patio and she was super busy taking care of seven tables but our drinks never went empty and she was VERY attentive. If only all restaurants could have servers as good as Danielle I would be much happier when eating out.
The pizza was great, a little on the pricier sode but worth it. Ingredients and food were good and service was excellent. Patio view in good weather was nice. Stop by and give...
