This rating isn't for the food or service since we never had the opportunity to check those things out. Arriving a couple of hours early for a VBC event, and seeing that this place wasn't very crowded, we asked for an outdoor table. The host (manager?) explained that we'd have to wait because tables were being held for those who had reservations. No problem. We put our name on the list and took a seat. We'd been waiting for probably 15 to 20 minutes when another couple arrived and began chatting with a gentleman in the line. We heard them tell him that they did not have a reservation and he told them he didn't like to "name drop" but that he'd get them a table. Sure enough, he approached the host, said something to him, and they were seated right away. After sitting there another 20 minutes or so, we were told to go to the rooftop bar if we wanted to be seated. Guess it matters who you are as to how you get treated here. We won't be back.*UPDATE REPLY TO OWNER RESPONSE: I don't know what I could say in an email that would explain any better than what I've already stated in my review. I will say this: There was only one couple ahead of us when we signed in and they were seated in a matter of minutes. After that, several others who came in were seated while we were left waiting. We were okay with that since we just assumed that they had reservations. However, we specifically heard this couple (who came in much later) tell the person they were speaking to in the line (friend/relative/acquaintance?) that they did NOT have reservations. He informed them that he didn't like to "name drop", but that he would be able to get them a table. He then approached the gentleman working at the host stand and said something to him after which they were in fact, promptly seated. What more can be said except that we won't be back unless we become people who can name drop too? At this stage of life, I think that's pretty...
Read moreThis place was chosen for a final get together after my bestfriend’s wedding before everyone got on the road to go back home. We came for brunch on Sunday around 10:40. We had a party of about 20 that was split between 5 tables & no one gave the servers any problems. Everyone was honestly just having a good time enjoying each other’s company before it was time to depart. We had others that trickled in just to say a last goodbye & congrats to the newly weds but did not sit to eat or anything. For starters, the name of the restaurant is Rhythm on Monroe but yet no music was playing & it didn’t have to be anything crazy but some light music would have been nice. Technical difficulties maybe? Parking threw us off bc this was our first time dining & there’s no immediate parking for the restaurant. There is a parking lot up the street & some construction going on in the area. Also, just a heads up it is a short walk to the restaurant for anyone w/ mobility limitations. There were barely any other patrons in the restaurant during our time there so I was disappointed about the service being so slow. Not to mention, the servers really didn’t come to clear all the dishes as they should have & left us with some of the menus (not too much of a problem as I just set them on the bench seat). The food was okay. I got the platters & I was so disappointed w the portion size & taste of the conecuh sausage I received. Very small portion & didn’t taste like the real conecuh. My friend’s cinnamon roll wasn’t soft but more firm in texture. Other friends had shrimp & grits but they barely gave her any grits. No one was extremely pleased w the food & it was lacking in flavor overall. I don’t know, maybe everything was due to the cooks in charge that morning. I always say try things for yourself because my tastes are different from yours, but this isn’t somewhere I’d personally wait...
Read moreThis visit was a mix of good and not so good. Made a reservation ahead of time, and showed up a tad early. Hostess was able to seat us right away (good). The way the restaurant is arranged, our table made the ambience quite poor. Facing the large window that faces the main hallway to the VBC, made for an unpleasant dining experience when we were after some quiet and perhaps a small amount of privacy. Our server was perfunctorily polite, but not engaging. My drink order was mixed up and I didn't receive the drink I ordered. When I asked if it could be fixed, server stated that they would have to consult the manager. Not wishing to be difficult, I elected to simply order a new (correct) drink. After deciding upon appetizer and entrees, drinks arrived and then the appetizer. White cheddar pimento spread was good, but not great. Would recommend carrot chips vice carrot sticks for serving. Carrot sticks are not the easiest to combine with this dip. Entrees arrived and immediately noticed a problem. Sides on my plate were incorrect, as were the sides on my wife's plate! Specifically I was given the wrong vegetable, and my wife was given the wrong kind of potatoes. After a few minutes of waiting, I was finally able to notify server of the problem My wife didn't bother asking to replace her side, but I asked for the correct side to be added to my plate. Entrees we did have were well prepared and flavorful. Wife enjoyed the trout and I enjoyed a well-cooked filet. However, after the incorrect drink order and the mixed up sides on our entree plates, we elected not to order a dessert. Overall not a 5 star experience. Would have liked to have better ambience/quiet/privacy, drink order fulfilled incorrectly and wrong sides on entree plate. On the positive side, well prepared and flavorful entrees. However I'd expect more out of a restaurant trying to be...
