The food here is good. The service is absolutely pitiful. Truly the worst of anywhere I’ve been in years. We went here about a month ago during happy hour (we’ve been here previously without any issues). We ordered some wings and tenders. The tenders came out no problem (A+). About 10 minutes later, someone came out with wings and gave them to the people next to us. They started to eat the wings and then complained they weren’t right. The server then came over and explained they were our wings (not a problem- things happen, and we understood). Another 15 minutes go by. The server brings out wings and gave them to the guy on the other side of us. Turns out, they were again our wings (not the kind he ordered, which he said)— but a new order would be out shortly. 15 more minutes go by. They bring out wings and go to give them to another party. This time I explicitly said those looked like our wings, only to have the person say no/ours were coming. The people start eating the wings and yet again they’re incorrect (they were the ones we ordered). So this actually was 6 wrong orders in total because they gave our wings to other people, and had to remake their wings since they didn’t get what they orders either. We told the server we didn’t want them at that point and just wanted to leave (she offered to get them, but I straight up don’t exaggerate when we already waited 40 minutes since each order took 10-15 minutes for them to prep for some reason). We left hungry and went elsewhere.
But we decided tonight to give them another chance. And what a mistake. We sat down and they were moderately busy but not overwhelmed. We sat at that table 10 minutes without one person coming over. One server looked right at us and walked right by. No acknowledgement whatsoever. It’s not like every table was full— there were a ton of empty ones in the middle. But at that point we just left. I wasn’t about to wait one minute longer only to then wait 45 minutes (and three wrong orders) to leave hungry anyway. We don’t see ourselves going back any time soon now, which is a shame given our previous positive...
Read moreI typically frequent the Hook & Reel and Bar Restaurant in Owings Mills, MD, but this was my first time at this location. The music was 🔥🔥🔥. It was definitely my type of vibe and my speed. I can only imagine how lit it is at night or on the weekends. I’ll start by saying that my server was incredibly attentive, personable and gave me amazing customer service – I’m a stickler for customer service! His name is Dee. He came by a few times, didn’t bother me too much and asked how I was doing - I appreciated that. As for the bartender, he was also friendly as well. I ordered a spicy margarita which is not offered on the menu and they also do not have the ingredients for the type of spicy margarita that I typically drink, however, he was more than happy to try to accommodate my request and I think he did a good job given what ingredients they had. He even came to my table to ask how it tasted. They definitely need some jalapeños and spices in here. I ordered a spicy seafood boil and it was t spicy at all - just salty really 🥴. Also, apparently this location is under new management. The new GM stopped by my table and introduced herself. Her name is Mexi and she’s from Ethiopia. She was very friendly and excited about her new role and asked me about myself. I really appreciated that and it made me want to come back. If I could give criticism about anything that may need some changes at this location, it’s definitely the cleanliness. The top of the booths are covered in dust and the leather has stains and old crusted up food. The little plastic menu holders are extremely sticky and even have sticker residue on them. I wasn’t a fan of that. If they hire someone to do all the cleaning, I think they’ll be OK. I enjoyed my time here and will probably be back! I say probably because this location is kinda out of...
Read moreWorst service of my life. Would give 0 stars if possible. I love other locations of hook and reel but coming here was the worst dining experience of my life.
I made a reservation for my friend’s BIRTHDAY notifying that we would be a big group and it was a birthday. Off the bat our server doesn’t come to our table for 30 mins after we told her we were waiting for other people to come. She didn’t even bring us water or try to get any drink orders while we wait. Once our friends arrive she doesn’t bring their waters or soda until after the meals came. One persons soup never came and we asked about it 3 time before they even knew if it was being made and at that point we just cut our losses. The server didn’t bring utensils or gloves until we asked for them. During our over extended 2 and a half hour dinner the server rarely check on us and made no effort to at least pretend about the mistakes they made. We waited for the bill for almost at hour and were charged with the automatic 18% gratuity. The server only brought us one checkbook for 8 split checks and after waiting for 30 minutes for our check she had charged 2 cards with the wrong order. The manager did nothing to compensate for this. We are all servers and we tried to be empathetic but it was insane. Overall, it was just a terrible experience and the management did not care and the bartender was forced to try to handle the situation that he was not responsible for.
This manager needs a reality check because in no restaurant I have every been or worked at has a manger allowed this kind of service to happen or put servers/bartenders in situations they are not...
