Had the worst experience at Ulta Beauty (Hyattsville) Ulta Beauty
My sister and I go to Ulta Beauty (Hyattsville).
I walk up to a young associate in the store and ask her Can she help us find some foundation because they do the free consults there. (were taking family photos this weekend)
She basically looks annoyed and starts off by saying what kind of foundation do I want.
So I say I'm not sure, we want to find one that matches.
So then shes like well finding a match isn't the issue, all the brands have foundation, so you would need to figure out which brand you want.
So then I'm like, Well I don't wear makeup really so I'm not sure...
Then shes like well I use (insert random brand section shes in) then proceeds to name other brand sections in the store. I had just said I don't wear makeup and shes being very unhelpful.
Then she proceeds to say well this brand is $40 is that okay with you. (still has an attitude like we're intruding on her down time)
I was like umm beacuse I wasn't sure how to respond.
then she was like well that's a place to start
My sister chimes in and is like, well the cheaper there better I guess.
So then she points us to the nyx and Maybelline, says the nyx is new and then says you can just go over there and find what texture you like.
so seeing as how she's not going to be helpful we just walk over to the section and start looking.
To make things worse I see her go over to her coworker start whispering, looking at us,and then roll her eyes.
Short story shorter, we left and didn't buy anything.
We fully intended to buy something but her attitude wasn't worth it not to mention she didn't even attempt to help us.
I called the store and spoke to the manager and he said sorry there must have been miscommunication and then gave me the customer service number but didn't seem like he really cared.
I had heard so many things about Ulta that I was excited to go there for the very first time, but I was quickly disappointed. I still don't have any foundation for my family pictures on...

I have no idea why the other two reviews are even up. I love this place. It's always clean and the staff is super friendly. I come to this location a few times a week while on my lunch break. Not once have I witnessed any of the employees be rude to any customer. They try their best to greet every person that walks in the store and if they see you wandering around, they are quick to ask if you need any help. Also, there are times where there are multiple customers and the lines are long. I've been matched several times at Ulta and I have also had to return and repurchase several foundations due to the undertones being way off in different lighting.
You can't blame an employee for matching you to the wrong undertone. They do not control the lighting in the store nor do they control the lighting in your house.
I have seen people get upset at long lines and just leave. I have heard people say, "They need more people working here...this is ridiculous". People need to think about the fact that is is the FIRST AND ONLY Ulta in PG County that is close AND accessible by public transportation (Metro-Green Line) to a lot of county residents. The other Ulta is in Laurel. That is definitely way too far for most residents. Of course the lines might be a tad bit long. But, the employees are moving as fast as humanly possible to accommodate every guest. Before this location opened, people had to travel to Virginia or other counties just to even set foot...
Read moreI booked an appointment at the Salon here with quite a few services. I got several confirmation texts throughout the week and multiple the day of the appointment. I arrived to my appointment 10 mins early and sat for 30 minutes waiting for my stylist to show up, who never arrived. The manager on duty told me she couldn’t get in touch with the stylist and they couldn’t get me in with anyone else so they canceled my appointment after I sat there for 30 minutes waiting due to the stylist not showing up and nobody being able to contact her. I got a call from the stylist 30 minutes later saying she just got in and she never shows up that early and that it “wasn’t her fault and her manager messed up” REGARDLESS, I drove 60 mins round trip for this appointment and sat 30 mins for NOTHING. No mitigations, no solutions and no apologies. This place is poorly mismanaged. I got several confirmation texts, showed up early, and didn’t get anything. The manager on duty said she would pass this incident along to the general manager and that I would get a call from them within 48 hours, that was a week ago. I never received a call. This location is poorly mismanaged and they clearly don’t care about mitigating these issues because they didn’t even have the decency to call me about this issue when they said they would.
