I used to order from this Chipotle regularly, but it has recently gone downhill. I've noticed repeated store closures, frequent announcements of missing ingredients, and restrictions to online-only ordering over the last month, and last Friday I had a particularly negative experience.
On that day, I submitted an online order scheduled for pickup at 8:15pm and arrived a few minutes early only to find 10+ other customers standing outside in the cold (no one was allowed inside the building, and some had been waiting for more than an hour). An employee would come to the front every 5-10 minutes with couple orders that were ready and call out the names of their associated customers. About 20 minutes later, we saw her leave out the side door with her purse, seemingly gone for the night without any explanation. As time drew on, the crowd grew restless and tried to wait inside, only to get kicked out again by the management. After waiting for 30 minutes, I was forced to leave to avoid missing an appointment. I came back around 9:40 with the understanding that the restaurant closed at 10pm and noticed that the crowd had dispersed. I peered into the window and saw employees moving in the back, with the store lights dimmed. A man came up to me and told me that no one had received their food after the time I'd left. Chipotle employees had told the crowd they weren't going to get their food, and persons had left one by one, disgruntled.
Overall, the lack of customer service and professionalism displayed was pretty disturbing. Aside from the worker who delivered orders to the door before leaving, the employees seemed checked out and indifferent to the plight of the customer and never tried to apologize or explain what was going on. After leaving empty handed, I ended up just ordering from Taco Bell. I can't see myself returning to this Chipotle because I don't trust them to complete orders, least of all in a timely fashion. I suspect the restaurant has lost a lot of its former staff, because this experience was a complete 180 from the positive experiences I had earlier in the year. Corporate needs to check what's...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time stepping into this location. I feel bad for students coming into here or anyone for that matter. Terrible representation of the Hyde Park neighborhood and should be replaced with a small local business. Correct hours not posted anywhere on the exterior of the building. Came in after working out at the LA Fitness above (shouldve went to roti next door), it was 9:00pm and the staff was irritated that they had to keep serving people until 9:30pm the supervisor in charge did not look like they were in charge based on the lack of respect coworkers had. When I asked for food and me being from Texas I know a drawl when I hear one and the white lady with glasses blonde hair, blue eyes and the strong drawl with a grumpy attitude for being at work asked me again what I wanted with an attitude. I repeated myself and asked her if it was a long day trying to de-escalate/show compassion and she scoffed and shook her head. I didnāt know I was at McDonalds to be treated with that attitude. There should be a team meeting about this and change the supervisors so that the workers respect their authority. Post the new hours on the glass doors and donāt take it out on customers that come in during your serving hours that you have to do your job. If you donāt like your job go somewhere else just like I donāt like the way I am treated and even if it does change I wont come to this Chipotle again. I have never had this experience at any Chipotle from Texas to Colorado through the west and to the midwest. This is a first for me. Learned my lesson support a local spot on the street not this place.
Update: Went for the second time they donāt read too good here. Ordered a quesadilla with guac and chips with guac and got none of that. The set up is wrong because no one is manning the register and the mobile orders are off to the side and their backs are turned. May as well retrain everyone or just hire undergraduate students from UChicago or even local high schoolers. This location needs strong management to lead the way to make a change here. Probably someone not from Chicago to uproot the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne thing that is consistent with this Chipotle is how bad it CONTINUES to be. Hyde Park Chipotle is theeee WORST Chipotle in Chicago. I guess I'm just a glutton for punishment. Every time I give them another chance, they ended proving why I stopped going.
They are either: Out of something Rice is undercooked Fajita veggies: don't have and/or burnt and/or crunchy and undercooked Meat: no flavor and/or burnt Chips: chewy & super greasy bc not cooked all the way through and/or too much salt Slow and very disorganized.
Ordered a bowl online...paid for double meat
Got there...cashier and other worker had to finish convo before even asking if i was picking up. She then says the whatever system was down so the order was canceled. She then asked my name and said she could look up the order....so is the system down or nah? Because how can you just go into your system and look up my order by my name and know exactly what to make while I'm standing there. Why couldn't that have been done to begin with.
The young lady prepares my bowl with the bottom of the container scraps of chicken and the old, dry, burnt steak remnants (my dog would have scoffed at it).. Chicken looks like pulled chicken instead of the cubes of chicken that it should be. Both meats had NO season, flavor...not even salt and damn pepper! And this is not $4 worth of extra meat...only extra rice...which I didn't ask for...Of course you don't notice until back to your location ready to eat. I am totally disgusted...but not at Chipotle...at myself for allowing myself to keep falling for the oke i doke..
I'm with most of the other reviewers...SHAPE UP OR SHIP OUT!!!! Starting from the TOP down.. IT'S NOT LIKE YOU ARE INEXPENSIVE OR CRANKING...
