The words ramen are ramen do not quite carry the same weight, restaurant to restaurant, that remains true here. Pros-- -Quick and speedy service -Some of the Ramen Dishes were quite flavorful, which was satisfying, however several dishes were unfortunately not seasoned properly and watered down. -Portion sizes were healthy -The restaurant itself was clean -Fairly good Ramen Cons-- -Lack of flavor pallet amongst dishes, inconsistently between dishes served. -We were only greeted by our waitress once, and only one person in our group had their water refilled! Yeah ... That was not ideal. -Between getting seated and our checks, there were maybe 20 words exchanged by our waitress, to which a phone coming out of a pocket and disappearing to a corner proceeded to happen the rest of the meal. -Warning: Just a heads up is they charge 18% in gratuities. This isn't a high quality restaurant as one would expect in terms of this being a standard surcharge. - The service itself was not top notch and we felt it wasn't anymore deserving of the gratuities. -We were also asked to tip after getting the surcharge. Unfortunately, that won't fly in this review! -The online prices don't match what was on the menu in the restaurant! By $2-3 depending on the meal. -On a final note all of the waitresses and servers didn't have their hair up, which raised some eye brows, because that is a health code violation and not customary for the restaurant environment. Unfortunately while I like to support local businesses and chains, this location will not be getting anymore business for the time being for referrals and references.

The food was good. The service needs a lot of help. I went with a group of coworkers for lunch & we were lucky enough the beat the rush. If you plan on dining here during the normal lunch rush, I highly suggest getting here before 12pm. After that, it gets a little crowded. The interior is clean & there's a decent amount of seating. The booths here are not meant for tall people. Actually, not really made for anyone over 5'. I'm 5'1" & my knees were either touching the person's knees across from me or the table legs the entire time. We all enjoyed our ramen dishes. They were flavorful & the temperature was perfect. I had the Garlic Tonkatsu ramen. Definitely recommend. We also ordered takoyaki - the flavor was there but the middle was undercooked. I've had it many times before at other places & I'm pretty positive the inside shouldn't have raw dough. The customer service could use a complete overhaul. The waitress spoke & made facial expressions like she didn't want to be there. We didn't receive water refills until she came to take all of the dishes away - even then, we had to ask a few times beforehand. We also asked for napkins & one of my coworkers asked for extra noodles and she forgot about us more than once. With a lack of ramen options in Idaho Falls, I would definitely come back. Although, I hope next time the experience is way more enjoyable...(or I'll just order take-out).

Hokkaido Ramen House is a good idea in theory. A ramen house in south eastern Idaho is something this area needs. Any amount of culture is a good thing generally. But unfortunately I feel like the dishes lack depth and sometimes the choices of vegetables are just odd. My dining companion had the spicy Tantanmen and the broth was pretty flavorful and decently complex. However since it has a bit of a greasy mouth-feel it might be offset with the addition of more vegetables in the dish. I had the vegetable ramen. The main punch of any ramen should be the broth, and the vegetable broth lacks the depth it could have if there was the addition of other umami flavors. The soy bean broth could have more depth if it were simmered with other vegetables and mushrooms. The wood ear mushrooms are alright but don't add much flavor to the soup, a better choice might be enoki and/or shitakes. The addition of the tomatoes just seems truly strange to me and I asked for them to be left out. It would be nice to see more vegetable options for the vegetarian ramen with the addition of broccoli, carrots, and mung bean sprouts. The service is alright, but as the kitchen is open to the dining room you can overhear the conversations of the kitchen and wait staff which can detract from the atmosphere depending on the topics of conversation.

Updated Review: I wasn't going to give a 1 star as I have not yet tried the food, however after writing my original review I chose to go here for dinner...and what happened? After confirming the hours of operation I arrived at my earliest convenience after getting off work, approximately 1 hour before close. Upon entrance to the restaurant, we waited a few minutes for a server and when the server came to us she informed us that they were already closed for the evening. Denied service during the stated hours of operation twice in one day? Seems like a no go to me, I'll take my business elsewhere.

Original review: I called to confirm hours and takeout options at this location and was informed that I could place a takeout order. I informed the restaurant I would call back in a couple hours to place a lunch order, and they seemed delighted. I called back when we were ready to place our lunch order, and was informed they are "to busy for takeout" and are no longer accepting takeout orders.

This is quite inconvenient, and something I have never experienced with any restaurant. Quite disappointing that we wanted to try this restaurant, was going to be ordering for 3 with appetizers and drinks, and get informed that they can't provide me the service I was expecting to receive.

Guess I'll stick to Dee's Kitchen as my...
