We went here for Mother's Day Brunch 2023. It was super expensive for what it ended up being. You pay before you go in, so it was a surprise they didn't have bottomless mimosas (which ended up being $6 each...literally less than half of a champagne glass of champagne with juice for $6 each), especially for how expensive the whole thing was. They opened a tab at the bar that you have to go to the bar to settle after your meal, since the waitstaff won't bring your card back to you.
The booth we were sat in was not clean, and the carpet was filthy. Not only did they use paper plates and plastic utensils (which weren't near each other, so you had to go search for utensils), the spread of food was minimal and wasn't very good. The layout was ridiculously time consuming as they had it set up in a tiny square space that everyone had to file through. The dessert table was small and had only a few choices (the cheesecake was obviously left out there for quite a while-it was warm and had a rubbery film from being out so long). The prime rib was overcooked (they didn't even have little bowls to put the au jus in, which was immediately soaked up by the paper plates). The salad bar was completely mislabeled (with handwritten signs) and only had one salad dressing. The food was not kept restocked on the buffet line, and we were there only a half hour after they opened.
Overall, we will not return to this restaurant for any brunch buffet nor for regular food...
Read moreOur waitress was friendly and very excited to see us. We were the only 2 guests in the restaurant and that made us a little nervous. But we heard good things about the restaurant in Rexburg and figured we'd give this location a shot. She explained that they only had one cook in the back and her working the front so the time to get the food might be a little long... boy was she right. It took about an hour to get our food. Deep fried mushrooms, Burger and fries, and a rib eye steak, baked potato and fries. They were pretty limited on their side choices(fries, bake potato, or salad). I don't think I've ever had a waitress come tell me that my steak was going to be over cooked and still brought it out anyways. I ordered my steak medium and it was very well done. The flavor was ok but it was a fairly thin steak, not a typical rib eye. The burger patty looked of the frozen variety. I would assume that most of their food is cooked from frozen as they aren't a busy restaurant. Overall it was pretty disappointing and fairly expensive, $54 pre tip. The air conditioning wasn't working very well and it was quite hot in the restaurant. The waitress tried to make the best of it by apologizing and making small talk but that didn't make a difference, we won't be returning...
Read moreThere are bad dining experiences and then there are B.A.D dining experiences. Redd's, unfortunately, was a really BAD dining experience. The only positive (besides the tater totts, they were good) was our server. She was very nice.
Our first clue that this may not be a good experience was our being the only people in the restaurant...on a Friday night. The second clue was the dated, dirty, very worn out decor that harkened back the nostalgic days of 1988. I mean, it was truly reminiscent of leggings and big hair 1980s decor.
The third and final clue was the food. I ordered the Philly cheese steak and I can honestly say I'm not sure it was actual cow that I was eating. I simply could not tell from the taste or texture of my food. My daughter ordered the coconut shrimp that was simply unrecognizable as shrimp and tasted as bad as it looked. And a friend ordered the chicken strips that were so dry they tasted like they'd been frozen, thawed and refrozen a dozen times. It really was that bad.
We ate about 1/3 of our meal, then asked for the check and left.
This restaurant is on its last breath and just needs to pass away quietly with what little dignity it may have had several...
