The beautiful Snake River, winding through the Pacific Northwest for more than 1,000 miles and six states, is a defining feature of the Idaho Falls cityscape.
A lot of work has gone into making this stunning feature accessible to the public, and you can now stroll, jog or cycle along several miles of riverside on both banks of the Snake River.
Youโll come across art installations and interpretive signs on the route, as well as a string of pretty waterfront parks where you can linger for a picnic.
One of the main landmarks along the way is of course the waterfall that continues to generate more than half of the cityโs power.

The snake river is the center of attention and the star of the show. It is hard to describe the beauty and splendor which is the snake river. The gurgling and babbling water adds to the serenity. It is in the center of some of the most beautiful flora and fauna. There is a bike or walking path with gorgeous friendship gardens. Along the walk there are several historic markers and statues. The Japanese garden near the falls was donated by Idaho Falls sister city in Japan.
Here is where you will see the fireworks every year on the 4th of July. They are some of the most fantastic fireworks. It truly is a must see event.

The scenery is beautiful with many different types of views such as the falls, the temple, the Japanese garden, underpasses, terraced landscape with lots of flowers and foliage, and the river or waterways almost always along your path. There are also many trees especially by the older original path near the falls and at Freeman park, but there is greenery everywhere. There are restraunts, motels and some shops by the falls which is just off the freeway. You can walk or bike the smaller 2.3 mile loop around the falls and by the temple or you could go all the way from Freeman park on the North down to Ryder park off Sunnyside on the south for an 11 mile loop.
