Except for the initial call to place my order for pick-up, it was an awful experience for me & my friend that picked up. -I ordered half stromboli, mild, no onions, & breadsticks w/cheese cup. She repeated the order back to me correctly & I paid before we hung up. -He gets there to pick-up & my order can't be found. He calls me, I tell him my order & he relays it to the lady who is helping him. Then she finds my ticket with the order & reads it off to him correctly. He waits while it's made. -He drops it off, to me, and goes home. -I eat 2 breadsticks, put the rest and the stromboli on the stove, & do something else. An hour or so later, I open the stromboli to eat and what is half of it covered with....ONIONS! 🤢 I call the store & was informed that he gave the wrong name & that's why my order couldn't be found & all she can do is remake my sandwich IF I bring mine back in as proof that it has onions. -I want to go a little further & mention some things: #1. Around 7pm they stopped taking orders because they couldn't keep up. #2. The order was in my name-Jill. The friend who picked up..his name is Jeff. We have the SAME last name (we've been divorced 9yrs). Soooo....?! #3. I no longer drive and he & I don't live together. I definitely didn't expect him to come back, get the wrong food, back to Pizza King, wait while it's made, bring it back to me, & go back home. Uh, NO!!
In conclusion, the 2 stars are cause the breadsticks were really good & I know the stromboli would've been too, if not covered in onions!! I won't be eating Pizza King for quite a long time but will,...
Read morePrior experiences were excellent. But this visit on a Sunday at 11:30 a.m.- the bread roll was soggy like it was pulled from the freezer still frozen and the oven turned the frozen bread into water. Then our 2 Large Stroms had no cheese just meat no onion or peppers. Lastly, the bottom of the bread was burned black. My brother had this same experience earlier in the week. It certainly appears this location is cost cutting, has untrained or under-trained personnel, and is does not "value" long standing customers. I drove from VA to Evansville for a good strom. I have had 3 good Stroms from other restaurants in EVV that are very good. I would give a lower rating if I could. But from now on I will pay more at other restaurants to good a properly prepared EVV Strom. My review is for the Newburgh location only. The Westside location...

EAT HERE. GO NOW.
Eating at Pizza King is a highlight of every trip back home to Evansville. The diced pepperoni and thin, slightly charred crust I've never found elsewhere. I've eaten embarrassing amounts of this pizza in a single sitting.
Their strombolis (for those not from the area, we've misappropriated the term - Evansville stroms are not a true stromboli, but rather a delicious sub-like sandwich with sausage, onions, tomato sauce, and mozzarella) are fantastic.
There is another great location on St. Joseph and Franklin (west side of Evansville) where I ate growing up, but I usually stay nearer to the Newburgh shop when I visit. The staff in Newburgh are great and they recognize me even though I only make it in once or...
