Alright, buckle up.
So today, I decided to treat my wife and myself to some good ol’ breakfast via DoorDash. I was feeling optimistic, the reviews were glowing — 4.5 stars! That’s basically culinary royalty, right? WRONG. I got hoodwinked. Bamboozled. Eggsploited. (You’ll see what I did there in a minute.)
Let’s break down the "feast" they sent me:
2 eggs – laid with the care of a chicken that gave up halfway through life. 2 strips of bacon – I ordered regular, she got turkey. Either way, they were so small they could've been used as bookmarks. 1 slice of toast. Yes. ONE SLICE. What are we doing here, rationing for the apocalypse? I’m not trying to build a crouton collection, I want TOAST. Plural. Hash brown casserole – This portion was so tiny I had to squint to confirm it was there. Looked like someone thought about giving me a spoonful and then changed their mind halfway. Coffee – Black. Because apparently creamer and sugar are mythical luxuries reserved for the 1%. I guess I’ll just drink this like a lumberjack who lost everything but his will to survive.
Now here’s the kicker: \
57. I tipped \\
7 (because I’m not a monster — the driver didn’t cook this tragedy), and with the usual fees, that leaves about \20 per person for this breakfast crime scene. You’re telling me I paid \\
20 for 2 eggs, 2 tiny bacon strips, a single sad toast, a thimble of potatoes, and a cup of bitter bean water? That’s not breakfast — that’s performance art.And before someone says “well delivery is always more expensive,” let me stop you there: Even if this meal was \$15, Frankie’s laughs at it. Frankie’s serves up a full plate like your grandma just found out you haven’t eaten all day. Their portions are solid, their pricing makes sense, and their food doesn’t feel like a passive-aggressive insult to your wallet.
Bottom line? This place is the Fyre Festival of breakfast joints. I don’t care how many 4.5-star reviews it has — if this is what “highly rated” gets you now, then we’ve officially lost the plot.
I ate it. I survived. But I’ll never forget.
⭐ 1.5/5 stars — .5 stars for the eggs being cooked and 1 full star for the opportunity to warn the next...
Read moreThis was my first time to this restaurant. With the name I expected it to be more chicken than anything else. But it was not mostly chicken. (Quite truthfully, if the steak she offered reflects the same quality, I am glad I did not spend my hard earned money on that!) I did take out because I thought it was a drive up restaurant rather than an actual sit-down restaurant. The girls that attended me knew almost nothing about their dinner menu I had questions to ask, one had to ask the other then she had to go back in the kitchen and ask. It was a little chaotic and there was only one other couple being served in the restaurant. When It took close to 15 minutes to get the two chicken dinners with waffle dressing and potatoes with gravy. I discovered that it was just two small chicken strips, about the size of a finger length, along with a small helping of dressing they made into a very small waffle and lumpy potatoes with gravy in each dinner. Those were $13 a piece, $32.00 after tax and a small tip. One of the chicken strips was so tough that it was inedible. Even my daughter tried and she couldn't eat it either. When I called the next day to tell the owner or manager of my displeasure with the meal and the whole scenario, most of what she did was rebut what I was saying that no this is not true and this is not true and blah blah blah. So the old adage that the customer is always right will not hold true here. Needless to say, though she offered another meal to me or money back, but it will not change the fact that she will still be dishing up the same meal at the same price and it definitely was not worth the money these days for me to even think about going back to...
Read moreWe were looking for somewhere for a late breakfast/early lunch and thought we'd try The Rooster's Den. We arrived Friday and walked through the front door around 11am. There were a few tables open and our hostess brought us to our table. Our hostess was polite and let use know that our server William would be with is shortly. William took our drink order and gave us a few moments to overlook the menu. Our drinks arrived in less than 3-5 minutes and William was quick to tell us about the lunch special and some of the popular dishes at the R.D. The salad bar looked really good but went another route after seeing the menu.
We ended up ordering a Kids grilled cheese, Cheeeburger wrap, Whole hog burrito and the Chicken plate lunch special. It wasn't very long until our food arrived and it looked and smelled wonderful!
Rave reviews from the kiddos on the Wrap and the Grilled cheese. The Whole hog was good. Plenty of flavor and filling but the side of casserole seemed small..until I finished and I was full glad there wasn't more! The Plate special was good as well just the right amount and the flavors were flavorful and yummy.
Our server made our meal better, even though he seems super busy he still had time to stop by and see how were doing and even chatted up a little bit. The hostess helped keep our drinks full and our table clean. The manager came out and checked on us and make sure everything was to our liking. (ZERO complaints on our end)
Came hungry. Left full and satisfied...Can't wait to dine here again Great people, nice warm atmosphere.
Thanks Rooster's for setting the bar...
