My wife had been given a $50 gift card for this restaurant so we decided to take the drive to Brown County and try it. While the scenery is beautiful, it is the only highlight of this restaurant. Upon entering, we stated that we had a reservation and were seated. However, we were not given silverware or napkins at that time. Our waitress, Maddie F. Came over to our table about 10 minutes later and asked if we were ready to order. She did bring us two glasses of water, yet still no silverware or napkin. My wife ordered the pretzel and a salad. I ordered a burger with pepper jack cheese, and bacon on it and french fries. I had to ask the waitress before she left if I could have something to drink besides water, and she obliged. she returned 10 minutes later with plates for an appetizer still no silverware or napkin. At this time before she left my wife inquired about my Pepsi. This is when our waitress asked my wife to remind her what she had ordered as an appetizer. 30 to 40 minutes go by and our food comes out. However, still no napkin or silverware. My wife asks a manager about the napkins and silverware to which the manager rep replied the person that that you should have given it to you, but I will take care of it. Now you might ask yourself, surely the manager just grabbed napkins and silverware, and handed it to my wife, right? Wrong! 10 minutes later, we got our napkin and silverware. The burger that I ordered tasted like a leather hockey puck and the fries were inedible. My wife salad was in just as bad shape as my burger. At this point, we had seen our waitress, maybe three times. At no time did she offer to refill my Pepsi, to make sure that everything was going OK tasted good, etc. we decided to leave but needed two boxes, for the dogs, And my wife had to flag down some employee as our waitress was nonexistent. When Our waitress finally came back to the table. I informed her that we were ready for the check. She handed it to me, took the $50 gift card I still Owed $1.80 and paid it with my debit card. However, our waitress seemed uninformed as to how to use her point of sale system. Upon seeing this, I told her I would handle it. Which I did. I honestly cannot remember the last time I did not leave a tip at a restaurant, And I am sure that I have never had such bad service in my life. Couple that with how horrible the food was, we will never be back and we will never recommend Hard Truth restaurant to anyone. If we had another gift card, we would give it away. In summary if I could give this less than zero stars, I would. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone it is overpriced and does not deliver on...
Read moreWe stopped in for dinner. The place is absolutely gorgeous. The woods and outdoor patio area with stage for live music was fabulous.
We chose to eat on the upper deck and we had a great exposure to the live music too. The restaurant was very busy, but we know why. The staff is so warm and friendly and you gotta love a place where everyone pitches in for service and support. It's clear the team really enjoys working here and with each other!
The deck gets sunny and hot later in the afternoon so make sure to try and sit strategically where one of the wall fans can keep you cool! We didn't know this and it got toasty for us after a while.
We started with a couple of specialty cocktails with a berry spin and the Brussel sprouts starter.
These might be some of the very best sprouts we've ever had. It's a real art to get the center of sprouts to be tender and flavorful. These were amazing and the sriracha glaze is so full of Smokey flavor and a perfect kick at the end. Super great.
Teresa got the wedge salad and I was going to get the fish and chips, but their fish fryer was down, so I went with my back up, the meat loaf. Teresa really enjoyed the wedge, it was fresh and very nicely appointed with cheese crumbles too!
The meatloaf was less successful. I have to say the mashed potatoes were really flavorful and the green beans were perfectly prepared too. The saucy drizzle on the meat loaf didn't taste good to me and it took away from the dish, sadly.
I noticed they had a bacon onion jam that they put on their burgers and so I repeatedly ask for a small serving as I knew it would change the meatloaf for the better.
After waiting quite a while for the jam what I got was more of the sauce I had worked to get off the meatloaf! Made me sad, I'm a big meat loaf fan, but I left most of the portion uneaten. Really a shame too.
Alex was our server and he worked very hard but both the bar and the kitchen were incredibly slow. And it took quite a while to get a second round of cocktails too.
I ordered a slice of blueberry cheesecake to go, but when we got back to our BnB, it hadn't come with any utensils so I had to go hunting for a spoon or something in the kitchen downstairs. It's not a big deal really, but it's worth a mention for the future. Easy to drop a spoon or fork into the box.
All in all, we had a great experience thanks to the staff's enthusiasm and pitching in, the cocktails, and the super delish sprouts and wedge salad.
Thanks to Alex for really working hard for us! We'll likely be back at some point just to try again!

Read moreWow, this place sure isn't what it used to be! My husband and I have been here multiple times before and had great experiences! This time, however, it was not the same. We were told it would be a one hour wait by a manager who was taking names and we ended up actually waiting just shy of two hours. While waiting for our table, we had beers outside. When it got chillier, we moved up toward the building for warmth... BIG mistake because the employees cleaning tables on the patio above were DUMPING LIQUID over the railing where we and other people were sitting!! When we got our table, the host (a surly, unkempt teen) literally threw everything on the table and mumbled something unintelligible. Our server was awful. She took forever in between visits to the table. She would walk by the table multiple times and completely ignore us. My husband had to go the bar himself at one point because his beer had been empty for so long when he wanted another and she was nowhere to be seen. When his beer was magically refilled she was completely oblivious that she'd dropped the ball. Yikes! The brussels we ordered for an app were undercooked and completely lacked flavor. My husband's pulled pork 'grilled cheese' had barely any cheese (and zero cheese flavor) and was basically just pulled pork on Texas Toast. We also were super disappointed that there was no Quaff On merch to be found! There is only Hard Truth stuff. We are not whiskey/bourbon people, we are beer people, so we were super sad there was nothing for us. Big Woods in downtown is FAR better for service and Quaff On merch. Also of note, I watched a different manager confront a man with a SERVICE dog, he came at the owner completely aggressive when the owner simply forgot the harness in the car that said 'service dog' and was able to quickly pull his card for proof! SO unprofessional of that manager and he's lucky the poor owner was so kind! Don't waste your time at Hard Truth. This was one of the worst experiences we've ever had at a restaurant and needless to say it will be a LONG time before we ever try it again. I am not usually one for writing reviews, but I felt the need to warn others of a...
