This Chick-fil-A was built as part of the initiative to revitalize struggling communities within Indianapolis through introducing reputable commerce to the community. The logic is profitable business = more tax revenue and jobs = more funding for the area.
Loving the logic of the revitalize Indy project: I write this review with a conflicted heart. Being part of the Indianapolis community, I would love to see my community grow but my experience at this Chick-fil-A was below subpar fast-food standards. Let alone the standards expected by a Chick-fil-A franchise.
The journey begins with an unwelcoming face of an employee who seems more preoccupied on a cellphone than doing her job of directing incoming traffic for a POPULATED and BUSY area. Despite the first impression, you are led into the next part of your adventure. A quick and friendly ordering experience but this is where everything takes a turn for the absolute worst experience!
WAITING, WAITING, and MORE WAITING... After 13 minutes pass by I make it around the corner of the building, but there is more waiting to be had! As I drive around the corner, my eyes are blessed with the view of the most radiating (sarcasm) pile of trash outside in clear view for all customers to see. I must say that if not for my experiences in the military, my appetite would have been lost. After spending another 10 minutes gazing upon the trash, traffic begins to move again!
As I approach the drive-thru window, I am greeted with a welcoming smile as they get my order together. Another 5 minutes pass by for a total of 28 minutes waiting in line for my food...
The adventure doesn't end there! Oh no! I go into the adjacent parking lot to check on my order to find a nice cold sandwich (It is supposed to be hot), a bag of ice that appears to have been waiting the entire 28 minutes as well considering how it was half melted, and my Mac N Cheese which I was given a silverware set for but upon closer inspection was just a plastic knife...
Now our adventure comes to a close as I type this review with my chilled greased fingers.
Management should provide additional training to focus on presentation of the restaurant (not leave trash out for customers to see) and improvement on processing the drive-thru to allow customers to quickly get their food. Considering that the average Chick-fil-A takes 7-9 minutes to complete an order during rush traffic and my experience was...
Read moreI've been here for carryout, drive thru and ordered delivery and the food is similar to the other Chick-fil-A locations I've eaten at but not as good. I've never gotten any of the sauces, dressings, tortilla strips, bell pepper crisps, etc that come with certain items. The food is colder, takes longer, is always (for me) missing things or worse, I'll frequently get spoons with salads and forks with soup.... This time was no different. I stopped getting drinks here a long time ago. Every single time I would order half unsweet tea half light lemonade-extra ice they just do whatever they want. At least 3 times i ordered that and they gave me sweet tea and I believe the tea melted a lot of the ice or they just never put extra.
This time I spent $27 on an $11 order of soup and nuggets. I wouldn't mind that if my order was ever correct or as good, fresh and hot as the other 2 locations I trek to when I want proper Chick-fil-A or Chick-fil-A after 9pm. I likely only go at busy times but parking and drive thru are always horrid when I'm there. The wait is never shorter than 20 minutes. The 2 times I went in (specifically so I could check my order was correct) myself and many others stand by and wait. A workers confirm we are standing in the right spot and will be helped in a second. 5 minutes later a different worker says the same. 10 more minutes later a manager is walking by and the carry-out group is super annoyed but still really hungry and so we are polite. The manager was also very polite and apologized. She started grabbing our orders for us and made all the corrections I needed quickly but I'd rather sit in my car listening to music then ever stand shoulder to shoulder with strangers wondering if we're in the wrong spot or something. (There is a carryout wall we stood at but it was empty.)
For the record I've never had any issues with any staff. No one has ever been rude or short. When I asked for things they quickly and happily helped. Quiet waiters or ones with blank stares (or whatever pet peeves other reviews had) don't bother me. They have always served me quickly and took down what I said correctly. I just don't know what's going on with execution. Maybe I'll order one more time when it's not busy at all and see what happens. After that this place is cici's...
Read moreJust go to Southport. This location was doomed to fail from the start and the cracks are already showing. The service is abysmal by chick FIL a standards, the wait times are ridiculous, and the whole structure of the location is awful. Why they decided to open in such a tiny location is beyond me. Apparently being in spitting distance of the competition was more important than choosing a location that could physically support their business. There is literally like 6 parking spaces for the whole lot, which means no curbside spaces, which doesn't matter anyway because this location doesn't even support mobile orders! Even the location in the mall can take them! The lot is also barely large enough to accommodate their two lane drive thru. And boy you really roll the dice with what lane you pick. Depending on who is taking orders it's not weird for one line to be moving regularly while the other moves at a snail's pace.
I was really excited that we finally got a location on this side of town but I was also afraid it would end up like every other business on Washington avenue, a dumpster fire of bad service. Well it looks like even chick FIL a can't seem to bring it to the table when it comes to working on the East Side. Guess I'll keep going to Southport until we move to Fishers.
If this keeps up I wouldn't be surprised to see this location close in the next couple years. I can't imagine CFA letting a location tarnish their reputation by continuing to backslide into bad service. I mean obviously it's nowhere near as bad as Popeyes but even they can get you your food in less than 30 minutes.
Hopefully things improve but we're well over a month in now and things only seem to be getting worse. I honestly feel like this location would have an even worse rating if people weren't being so forgiving just because they like CFA and it's less garbage than going to most other places on Washington. That's not a high bar to set for yourself...
