First time going. The owner was there. She was very nice and accommodating. She answered all my questions, and l had a LOT. She showed us how to use your hands to eat, along with the rules and etiquette of doing so. I had fufu and African greens with smoked turkey. My friend had the spicy goat appetizer, fufu, fish stew and hibiscus juice drink. Everything was AWESOME! Fufu is a starchy side made with cassava or plantain. It's brought out wrapped in plastic. You grab a piece, roll it in your fingers, then kinda flatten it to grab whatever you're eating. To me it was mostly flavorless. It kinda takes the flavor of what you dip it in. The greens were very good and tender. While very flavorful, the seasoning was something l never tasted before. Loved it. The spicy goat was that. SERIOUSLY spicy. The goat itself, which l never had before, was very tender and mild in taste. Not gamey at all. The fish stew, again very good. The fish looked like it was fried and then had the stew poured over it. I may be wrong because it wasn't mine. The fish was a very mild white fish that anyone would like. The hibiscus drink was very good. Sweet and a little tart. The owner brought over some different bites of food to taste. The next time l go back, cuz I am, I will be having the egusi stew! Man! I took a bite of fufu and equsi and hollered. It was that good. Plus it seems they have stuff going on every night, music, line dancing, bands, etc. It's going to be a great hang out spot because there's food specials and things to do there. It's on w86th and Michigan Rd where Popeyes is. Go. Try it out....
Read moreI came in late on a Friday night. The kitchen would be closing soon. Aside from this, everyone was very nice. The bouncer, bartender, and waitress all said no problem we will help you. Very kind.
I skimmed through the menu and had a back and forth conversation with the waitress about what may be available so late. A few things weren't possible but we landed on a few things.
As for the food. The jollof rice was right correct color and cooked well. Inside it had some vegetables and pepper. But it was not hot peppers, there was no spice. It was a bit extra oily. The flavor was good though. The goat meat with the jollof was very well cooked, and satisfactory. Very little spice.
The egusi is filling with iyan is filling. The iyan is perfect. The egusi though was a bit too salty and strangely sour. Still ate it.
The moin moin had an excellent flavor. The egg was a bit over done, but still wonderful. Sadly it had a couple bits of aluminum foil inside of it.
The menu prices listed are not what is shown on the receipt. You will expect to pay 20% more than what the menu states. For a dine in restaurant the prices are average. The problem is the portion size does not match the price. I would say this food is pseudo- nigerian traditional, but with a fast food feel, and a fancy restaurant price.
I am sure they are great at catering, but the menu needs to stay up to date. People dont like to see a different price...
Read moreI drove all the way there from Kokomo , I stated that I was the only one willing to try the food. And it was my first time the young lady was not very responsive at guiding me Through the menu. Anyways I came for FuFu. I asked for no meat they asked me twice if I wanted no meat I said yes . Food came there was meat (not a big deal since I’m Not vegetarian) but not what I ordered . Also I assumed they spilt the egusi into two bowls . And I also asked for side dishes . Ig that was not the case but I did clarify upon ordering and pointed out what exactly I wanted and we only needed ONE SERVING AND WE WOULD EAT TOGETHER. I got charged almost 50$ for a side of egusi a morsel and a plantain . I felt as if she heard it was my first time they could get over on us since we was unsure of what was going on . I had high hopes for this but I won’t go back to this store and will tell others The same.. there was a beautiful dark skinned women that was nice but the young lady seemed...
