Came in for a late Saturday lunch at about 1:00. Place was pretty empty as there was only 1 or 2 other tables in the initial long dining room, although they seated my wife and me by ourselves in the back room that had a a large screen TV in each corner of the room [2 of which seemed to have some color issues]. It was sort of a weird atmosphere as there was no TV audio and I don't recall any music playing either (although maybe it was?). Eventually 3 other tables were filled in our room over the course of our meal.
Our server was fine. I had trouble understanding her on occasion, but she did a decent job of keeping our waters filled, checked in with our table at an appropriate frequency, and was generally pleasant and friendly.
We had a $50 gift certificate to use and intended to spend it on this visit. We started with an entree-sized House Salad [$10.15: spring greens, baby tomatoes, shaved fennel, shaved asiago, lemon vinaigrette]. It was a generous portion as we brought just less than half of it home after each having 2 servings and we agreed that we both really liked its flavor. We would order it again.
We then selected a medium (12") Pan Pizza with Parmesan Crust [$23.65: spinach, mushroom, alfredo], which is a newer menu item. It tasted pretty good and we very much enjoyed the crunchy, cheesy flavor of the crust on the edge, but it was not as noticeable as the dough under the main section of the pizza was softer and actually seemed like a chewy thin crust. Probably wouldn't order it again as it didn't seem like a great value, but glad we tried it. We ate about half of the pizza and brought the other half home.
Lastly, we had to order a deep dish since that is the reason you come to a Chicago-style pizzeria, even if it takes 45 minutes to make. We chose a medium (12") Fresh Spinach and Cheese [24.65], although my wife only had half of a slice and I had just one before bringing the rest home. I love tomato sauce and cheese, of which there were plenty of each, and it tasted outstanding. Using this as a vessel for getting my veggies via the spinach doesn't hurt either. Absolutely would order this again.
Overall, very much enjoy the deep dish pizza here, although it is my favorite style of pizza. Salad was excellent as well. Ambiance a little off and hope it's not a sign of a restaurant that might be...
Read moreMe and my family came here after attending graduation at Wabash College(I officially graduated). The waiter Dariel was great! He was very attentive to our every need and was very accommodating when mistakes were made. We ordered two pizzas, a more meat & a margherita, but unfortunately we got a pepperoni instead of margherita. The last time we came here was around 10 years ago with even more of our extended family which found the restaurant to be a great place to connect. Same stands to today, despite the switch-up with pizzas we were still able to come together and have a great time. We tried some new starters and found them all to be delicious. Especially the Italian beef arancini with giardiniera. Of the two dipping sauces that came with it beef au jus hit the spot while the marinara kept with the pizza shop theme. The tomatoes bruschetta was also phenomenal with the fresh mozzarella 😋 giving texture 😋. Only one major grievance was that they forgot my Pepsi. I ordered it in the middle of the meal when I found out they serve Pepsi products and it never came out. Don't know if I paid for it or not but definitely didn't get it. Though I enjoyed my waters thoroughly (I had multiple) the first one I got a bit excited with because it had a lemon. The lemon was infact so great that it caused me to spill the glass in excitement. After I finished drinking the puddle of water left I enjoyed my plain water slowly making sure to savor the one simple thing left in my life. After that I waited an extra 20 minutes after all the guests left for the margherita pizza to come out which was exceptional then demolished my third and final water. Also happened to see two guys I went to Wabash with while I was there which I didn't expect but was completely open to since I had...
Read moreThis was hands down the worst experience ever at GIORDANOS! I grew up on this pizza as a treat, and that's exactly what it was. I ordered the largest thin crust pizza at 9:08. Keep in mind they close 10:00. The lady who took my order said it wouldn't go through so she had to check with her manager to see if they could take my order. She took my order(extra cheese, pepperoni, and sausage). Upon my arrival I found a large pizza very few sausage, no extra cheese, and they evidently forgot the pepperoni so they just tree it on top, not even cooked all the way. I spoke to the MOD and explained that I grew up on this pizza and this is by far inexcusable. She said she would refund me for the sausage. I went to the restroom and by the time I returned she was gone. Kinda gave the cashier the business and told her to get the MOD again. After her return I showed her the pizza a second time telling her "I'm actually from the Chicago area and that she knew this wasn't right. She responded with "this is how it's made in Chicago and we're a franchise and do it the way they do. Bleep, bleep, bleep! She eventually refunded my money for the pizza, but it wasn't about the money. If I order a pizza that costs 30+ dollars it's because I was already sold. Hell, I'll pay whatever the price for what I believe in. Fast forward. Get the pizza home and it tastes like it looks. Frozen! My dad would roll over in his grave it he saw this. Maybe I need to partner up and being a beggars pizza here. No need to order extra anything. I am soooo livid and disappointed. Oh yeah, and hungry🤔🤔🤔😡😡😡☹️☹️☹️ I posted pics on my fb and instagram: esquire304...
