Grindstone Charley's — Restaurant in Indianapolis

We ordered bread pudding to go from Amanda our waitress. I specifically told her that last time we got them home we received 2 puny pieces and please be sure this doesn't happen again. She assured me it wouldn't. I didn't feel the need to check out the bread pudding as she promised(I should have ). We came home , opened both containers, and 1 was "ok" & the other measured about 2x2. It was awful for $9.98. Furious, I called and spoke to Robin, the asst Mgr who was extremely nice, and very apologetic for our waitress's behavior during dinner and afterwards. We spoke about many things, and our conversation lasted for about 20 minutes. She guaranteed if we did come back we would receive a different waiter, and gift certificate for dinner. She also liked an idea I had for the menu- we'll see if they really do it though, helping people with severe allergies.

Our dinner was just ok. The mac and cheese had no flavor. Tasted like powder from a box. Never ate the bread pudding. What a waste of our money. We had ice cream at home instead. The fish was nothing to write home about. My husband had the chicken with green beans and mashed potatoes. The green beans and potatoes were better than the chicken. I'd say Grindstone needs some help with their staff and their cooks. I'll be in touch with the district Mgr next. For all the cars in the parking lot, most were workers. The place was empty - now...

This is my 2nd time going here and having bad service. The first time it was okay. One man had almost every table in the building. He was working diligently. The 2nd time I went I had the worst time. I watched 4 couples walk out because a server never came to their tables. The serve I had it took her 10-20 minutes to come back and check on us. We had a coupon and we couldn't use it because our appetizers were half price but we asked if we can just put the appetizers on one check then and use the coupon for the actual food. That was a no which most restaurants will let you do that. Also the appetizers are half off only if you order two. Our sever never told us that and she knew we came here for the appetizers. Also she had never even ate at the restaurant. Also the manager was rude and she only conversed with a group of friends she knew. She was completely unprofessional. We had horrible serve and I'll never go again. I went with a friend who made frequent appearances there and she will never go again either. Tables stayed dirty. Food was good but nothing spectacular. The fried pickles were good and the serving was large, good enough for a few people to share. I had the prime rib which was flavorful and cooked correctly to order. No issues with the food.

Service was a bit slow and lacking however. Our group was on the large side (about 10) but the place was not especially busy and it still took an hour from being seated to getting the food delivered, and one of our party was not served (had to re-enter his order after the rest of the food was out). Also had to flag down the staff to get refills on drinks as we were not offered.
