HotBox Pizza — Restaurant in Indianapolis

Edit: the manager of the Southport location got in touch with me to figure out why the pizza is being burned recently, and I think he knows how to fix it. He also gave me a credit and I'm looking forward to trying my favorite pizza again! Thank you Alex ❤️

I used to LOVE hotbox. I've been eating there since they had their one original location downtown Indianapolis. The skinny crust was always my favorite, but lately something has changed. They must have changed the way they cook them, because the last three skinny crusts I've ordered were burned. Like burned to the point all the cheese was brown and chewy. I noticed this when I ordered on new years eve, but didn't say anything since it was probably busy and sometimes these things happen.

But then I ordered again on a Thursday afternoon and it was even more burned. I just asked for another pizza because that one was actually too burned to eat. They sent another one which was only slightly less burned. The manager was kind enough to give me my money back, but whatever new process they're using for the skinny crusts isn't working and should be reevaluated. Went randomly as we are pizza fanatics. On the door is a special for a large one topping, breadsticks, and 2 sodas for 22 bucks. You can't beat that deal, so we went with that.

The breadsticks.... while nice and fluffy and cooked to perfection, they were kind of lackluster in the flavor department. They would do well by adding some kind of butter/garlic parm sauce to kick them up. Otherwise, they are a little bland. But they did come with 2 sauces which we got marinara. The marinara is thicc boy. Served warm and plenty of chunk to stick to your breadstick.

The pizza was the star. We got the large thin crust pepperoni. It was cooked the way a thin crust should be. Crispy, loaded with pepperoni, and it was very good. Wish there was a tad bit more sauce, but overall, it was a very good pizza. They put some sprinkle on top, not sure what it is, but it added a whole different level of flavor.

Called in an order for a carry out pizza and husband went to pick it up only to discover it was never placed! He calls me from the store phone to see if I called the wrong location and I went to my call list to dial the number I called from with my cell phone and I got the same person who originally took my order. He placed another order and left. He returned only to no order being placed a second time! This time the same female clerk walked away and said it was a misunderstanding and he needed to talk to her manager. She still denied ever taking my original call. He placed the third order with a manager who never apologized or discounted the pizza at all! It was the last time we will use this location and we will call corporate offices in...
