I was in town for 3 days and googled great places to eat near my airbnb and this one came up. I was excited to experience it because i am a huge sushi fan and love Ramen, too.
Google says they open at 4pm and I arrived at 415 pm. I sat myself cause noone was ar the door to greet me. The atmospehere was lovely and I was excited! After waiting 5 mins a server came over and said they dont open till 430 pm and I would have to come back.
I was so dissapointed and deflated, cause I was really looking forward to some hot Ramen since it was cold outside! I was on foot because I walked over there since I had already paid for parking on the street and didnt want to waste my parking $$.
Dinner was the last stop on my agenda before I got on the road to drive home to Chicago.
So I a choice, 1) walk back outside and wait for 15 mins in the cold or go somewhere else. I chose the latter! I went to Cornado across the street.(which was amazing by the way!)
So, I have questions for the managment team and /or owners:
Are you really saying that you couldnt let me sit inside the restaurant for 15 minutes until you officially opened?
Why was the door opened, if you were closed?
Would you rather loose business to your conpetetitor, than go the extra mile to care for one of your customers?
Lastly, fix your open time on Google and train your staff to take care of the...
Read moreFinding good Japanese food in Indianapolis is extremely difficult. On our quest to good sushi, we stumbled upon Oishi. After reading the reviews, we figured it was worth the try. Their pricing is noticeably more expensive that Japanese/American restaurants in the area, so we hoped that would reflect in the quality of their dishes. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The atmosphere inside is probably the only good thing about the restaurant.
We ordered Ramen and some side sushi. The ramen broth was extremely stale and the noodles tasted rubbery. While I don't expect the freshest fish (we're not close to the sea after all), the Nigiri served wasn't good. The fish was cut wrong and the discoloring in the white fish meant that this piece of fish had seen better days. We left most of the nigiri and the ramen (we don't really want to get sick), I waited for the bill. We paid over $70 dollars for our meal.
Normally I'd say $70 dollars for a authentic Japanese meal is well worth it, however, for less than half the cost you can go to Sushi Club and have equal (if not better) food.
Either improve the dishes, or lower the cost. It's simply not...
Read moreWe stopped by here for a late lunch on Sunday. Parking was relatively easy to find as well. The restaurant had a few customers and was about 30% occupied when we got there. We were seated fairly quickly. Our waiter was responsive and was happy to help answer questions.
We weren't too hungry for appetizers so we went straight toward the main course and ordered 2 Spicy Miso Ramens with one of them having a substitute for the broth. We received our orders within 15-20 minutes. The quantity was not what I expected for the price paid; I expected a larger bowl and more noodles. The noodles were cooked well and the broth was quite flavorful. I was a little disappointed that the broth wasn't richer and that there was barely any spice. The soft-boiled eggs were nice, and I enjoyed the mushrooms and chashu as well. I finished my ramen and still being a little hungry, which is usually atypical for a ramen meal.
We weren't able to try any sushi, which made me question if Oishi is more known for their sushi. If we're ever in the area again and consider Oishi, I'd be up to revisit and try...
