This was my first time actually coming in to this restaurant. I must say, I was quite impressed with the decor. It’s very charmingly decorated. I’ve had food from here delivered in the past: burgers, fries & such & they were pretty good so I was expecting to really enjoy my lunch that day. HOWEVER, I was SO disappointed in my lunch! After reviewing the menu, I decided on the pot roast beef dip sandwich. I love beef dip sandwiches & surprisingly I’ve even had very good, high quality ones from places like IHOP so I figured a beef dip sandwich from Lazy Dog would be outstanding. Boy, WAS I WRONG! The meat was tough, chewy & completely lacking in flavor. I ate a couple of bites but it was just so disgusting I couldn’t deal with it any more. My husband is a whole lot less picky about meat than I am so I decided to take the sandwich home but sad to say, even HE couldn’t stomach eating their very low quality meat. We ended up just throwing the whole thing away. What a waste of money! I’m a disabled senior so for me to spend $ on going out to lunch is a rarity because quite frankly I just can’t afford it. I was so disappointed that my very rare lunch outing was such a bust. I did give this restaurant 2 stars because as I said, I’ve had good burgers & fries from Lazy Dog in the past but for a restaurant such as this to serve a pot roast beef dip sandwich that was SO bad, I’m not sure that I’d ever eat here again. Overall, I don’t think I could recommend this restaurant in good conscience. If this sandwich was so bad I’m guessing some of their other choices are going to be bad as well. Bottom line, if you want a high quality, tasty meal, I’d...
Read moreWe were hungry and looking for a dog-friendly spot, and 🐶 Lazy Dog Restaurant on Jamboree fit the bill perfectly! They’ve got a spacious patio and even a special menu just for pups. For $5, they served a rice bowl with peas, carrots, and chopped chicken. I had them split one between my two spoiled fur babies 🐾—they were thrilled! Not fancy, but thoughtful and a great deal. 🐕🥕🍚
Now, onto my meal. I ordered the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice based on the staff's recommendation. The menu sounded amazing: sashimi-grade yellowfin tuna poke, spicy garlic crunch, avocado, umami sauce, jalapeño, furikake—all on crispy sushi rice. 🍣🔥🥑 It read like a dream… but sadly, it didn’t taste like one. All I could really taste was the rice and sauce. The tuna? Nearly invisible. 🤨
I mentioned it to the waitress, and she kindly said she’d let the chef know. Hoping it was a one-off, I bought a second order to take home to my daughter… but nope—just as disappointing. 😞 She even asked, “What is this?” and couldn’t believe it was supposed to be tuna poke. 🧐
Yes, I still ate it (because I paid $16.50!), but honestly—it should be called Crispy Rice with a Hint of Poke. 😅🍚
The good? The coffee was fresh and excellent ☕️, my pups were full and happy 🐾, and my husband confirmed he really liked his club sandwich 🥪. So out of the four of us, three were happy campers. Unfortunately, I wasn’t one of them. 🙁 Maybe others have had better luck, but based on my experience, it was a real letdown—especially after trusting a staff...
Read moreThe Lazy Dog is one of my go-to places. They have a comfort-food type menu with rich and filling foods. One of my friends was with me today and said that while she really likes it, it's not a very health-conscious menu and I would have to agree. You can, however, modify the dishes (no cheeses, vinegar and oil dressing, roasted vegs, lettuce wrapped, easy sauce, etc.) and get a fantastic dish to your liking.
I love the consistency of locations, you can count on the dishes at any one that you go to and that's great.
Not sure if it's the dogs or that management creates a good environment but the servers are nice, happy people. They know their menu really well and aren't afraid to suggest their faves if you need a little help.
The menu is seasonal, as well, so you get changes every now and then that are mostly good. I say mostly because sometimes I lose my favorite items for several months until it makes a comeback.
It's priced competitively for what they serve and you get substantial portions, so it's a great value.
I really like this chain, like I said, it hasn't failed me. And on the rare occasions when I've had a problem with a dish, the manager has been attentive and helpful.
I definitely recommend the restaurant and the Irvine location is no exception, that are just as great. Parking is pretty easy, too, for this location since it's in a stand-alone building in a...
