Maizuru AYCE Sushi Bar — Restaurant in Irvine

Our family has come here about 1 time a month for the past year. Food is not amazing but reasonable (2.5 stars) and close to my wife's work.

Today will be the last time we come here. If the owner reads this, the bigger boned waitress in her late 20's early 30's was exceptionally rude. She mistakenly brought out a miso soup when my wife was in the bathroom. My mother-in-law starting eating it. Apparently it was brought to the wrong table and the waitress claims she told my mom-in-law that she would charge if she continued to eat after already starting. She also said she repeated it 3 times. Great! Unless she speaks Vietnamese she could have said it 3 more times. Heck, say it in Russian and maybe repeat it another 10 times. She doesn't speak English. Maybe trying saying it louder. Still doesn't speak English. So when we get the bill my wife asked for the charge to be removed. She refused saying that she told my mother-in-law 3 times. I don't dispute the possibility that the waitress told my mother-in-law. The fact is your brought something to the wrong table. Your fault. You are Asian. You know the old Asian lady glazed stare is not of agreement. It's a I have no clue what the heck u are talking about look.

But lets just say that I was out to trick you to get a free miso soup. It is asinine to lose a customer over a 2 dollar miso. As a parting salvo, I would just like to tell people to try the sushi place across the street. About 20% more...

This business is a scam. Don't pick the AYCE or don't go here. It's just rice and rice and it's not good. I can't finish either 1 dish. Before give them the order, i asked how many pieces/order, they told me 2 pieces/order but it's 8 pieces/order and 1 piece is the haft size of a regular rice bow. I want to check the camera but they didn't agree. They told me why don't see carefully at the menu. But i don't really understand that why i was ask directly to them. They told me must to pay $64 extra for the leftovers and i can take all home. My son is 5 years old was charged for $21/kid. I usually eat the AYCE sushi restaurant in Hungtinton Beach, it's so good and doesn't have a lot of rice comparing to this place. I feel like i was trapped and was scam by them in here... poor business! The sushi in sam club is better than here! The bill was 300 for low quality sushi, I don't...

Overall great experience and service and great location. I live in LA and found this sushi place when I came over to Irvine. The servers were attentive and great at serving. The rolls that I got were Eel Special Roll, Garlic Albacore Roll, Irvine Roll, Baked Spicy Langostino Roll, Harbor Roll which were all amazing :) But my favorite are Irvine Roll and Garlic Albacore Roll.
