I decided to try this place and I am absolutely sorry I ever found this place. I ordered two dinners. Both were shrimp and fish and you have the option to choose one side either coleslaw or fries. And an order of onion rings which were not even edible. How do you F up Onion rings? I opened the box and went to bite the onion ring, and could not bite through it. It was caked with batter. Absolutely no seasoning in sight, and had to have been fried for at least 20 minutes to the point where the actual onion that wasn’t decimated was black. The fish and shrimp we’re obviously not made fresh. They were frozen pieces that they dropped in oil, also not adding a lick of seasoning. The breading fell off with one bite. Absolutely ridiculous. The side of coleslaw was literally gray and had a weird odor. Literally the worst I have ever seen. I ended up throwing all of it in the trash. It was not edible. Literally $60 for a meal that was not edible, not to mention because I am very generous the $18 tip that I added for my driver. I also have to mention that even the sprite was horrible. It was all syrup, flat, and had one big chunk of ice as if they had cut it off of a block. It was the craziest thing I think I've seen. Just adds to this piss poor meal. Oh and let me add the DoorDash guy asked them for extra tartar sauce and they wanted to charge extra. They told him they put plenty in the bag so I told him not to worry about it because I had some at home. Now each dinner had three pieces of fish and five pieces of shrimp and these SOBs put 1 tarter sauce the size of a quarter in each!! Each small container was sat on top of the food so, of course, the heat from the food melted, the container that the tartar was sitting in. The tartar sauce smelled like musty under arms. But can you imagine one small quarter size container for all of that seafood. That speaks volumes about the owners! And lastly, whatever the same size rent stuff that was sitting next to the tartar sauce was literally too dark to be Cocktail sauce or catch up. Just disgusting. This was the worst meal I think I have ever had and the most money wasted. I work for a very large entity and could’ve brought a massive amount of business to this crackpot restaurant and they lost out. You should never cut so many corners that you diminish the meal. I will never ever ever ever patronize this business again. And if you actually like seasoning on your food, don’t go here or bring it your damn self....
Read more1 review 3.0 star rating 4/23/2017 The atmosphere is pleasant. I'm from New Orleans so I didn't expect the food to really taste like New Orleans food. The boiled shrimp were great, only thing you have to ask them is to cut the heads. It scared the hell out of me when I opened the bag cuz we don't serve it like that in N.O. They were too skinny too but still good. Only thing, I saved some for later and they were so soggy and mushy I had to throw them away. So eat them right away. The jambalaya is actually succotash on rice but still very very good but super hot- so if you don't like it too hot ask them to minimize the spice. I had to eat 2 spoonfuls then go back an hour later and try again. It took me 2 days to finish it. The shrimp gumbo is actually okra gumbo. Yes there is a difference once okra is added. I hate okra so I never tried the gumbo. The shrimp po-boys are awesome as well but they need to minimize the butter. I felt like i was eating popcorn the last time I ordered the shrimp po-boy and the bread was wet. Also they need to be consistent on the shrimp. I had it twice and the first shrimp were really small and batter wasn't great but the second time was on point- big shrimp, great batter just soggy bread. I have tried to try everything. I don't care for red beans and rice, so sorry I can't comment on it. The location is super convenient for me because it's across the street from my job. I work late hours so their store hours are awesome. It smells so good when you walk through the door. Now the shrimp and crawfish rice is the best I ever had. Too many large cut veggies/herbs but once you take them out, oh my God! Awesome! It's a taste I never had before, not N.O., but really good. Overall I would rate a 7 out of 10. Pretty close to N.O. food but not quite. If you're not from N.O., you would absolutely love it because you wouldn't know what to compare it to. My hubbie is a great N.O. cook (the best in my opinion and to others that have tried his cooking) so my expectation may be higher than most. However, as a N.O. native I give my stamp of approval. I would definitely recommend this place. I'm going to try the hot sausage on French today and I still have to try the shrimp pasta. My hubbie tried the fried alligator and said it was great and my mom tried the fried oysters, she...
Read moreI will never visit this place again. I was very reluctant to try it, because it just didn't seem authentic, but my daughter was treating so I gave it a shot. We walked in and there was no one to greet us. No signs to say "seat yourself" or "wait to be seated". The atmosphere was hum drum and quiet, but tv's were on. The music went in and out. We were in eyeshot of the the guy behind the bar who went back and forth, from the bar to the kitchen another room a couple times, before he came our way. I asked if we should sit anywhere. I suppose he was telling us were we could sit while I was asking, but I didn't hear him, so he answered me with attitude. That didn't sit right with me. For the rest of the night he took long periods before coming to check on us to offer drinks, take our order, and to bring the check. There was only a couple people at the bar and a small family across from us who was being waited on by another person. The food was ok, but the one good thing about it was that it was hot. We had seafood boil, fried fish and shrimp basket. The beans and rice was not great. Tasted too much tomato sauce and the beans seemed old. The crablegs seem to have been over cooked as they were soft and hard to crack. The fish was sliced thin and was mushy, like it was tendorized. I wanted plain fries, but he said they were Cajun as if I couldn't get the fries w/o the seasoning sprinkled on them. We left over half of our food on the table and felt like it was such a waste and was very unsatisfied. We'd have done waaaaaaay better going 7 minutes down the street to one of my fav Cajun chains, Razzoo's. If you want to experience an ambience of New Orleans flavor, great food, great music, and people, give Razzoo's a shot, definitely...
