Update: February 2020: Two (🌟) The service was okay, but lacking in a few areas. There are too many restaurants in this area to waste time and money at this one. I would not recommend this restaurant.
The server was a bit slow to return to see if we were in need of any other items for our food. The food was not what I expected but barely okay. The house salads arrived quickly and appeared to have been cooled in the refrigerator as it was very cold. The entrees arrived soon thereafter, and my selection of pot roast over rice was luke warm at best. Why? Some pieces of the pot roast were less than warm to cool. Some pieces of the rice was hard and dried out. Of course, this dish was the menu special this day. My spouse choose the chicken, shrimp, broccoli, and rice. The broccoli was seemingly room temperature..!! The one thing I hate is getting cold underprepared food. This was their second chance to shine and do better...they FAILED!!
June 2019: Four (🌟)My spouse and I were driving around trying to consider a new location to visit and eat an early dinner late lunch. We settled on this restaurant and decided to come on in and give it a shot. We noticed there was a large variety of American type comfort food. We noted that the price for the items featured was very reasonable per person. our server came by several times asking if he could take our order giving us a few more minutes to look over the menu and make a decision. In the meantime we ordered our drinks and the salad to try and decide further. Our salads came out with a fresh crescent roll and a sauce that was striped on top of the roll. The croutons on the salad did not taste fresh, but the roll was a nice touch towards redemption. The server set my drinking straw down on the table which had some other food debris on the straw package and contaminated the table which apparently had been wiped down. When I opened the sealed fork and knife set to wipe the straw I saw immediately that the fork had food debris left on it also. I set it to the side and let the server return it with the dirty dishes. During our time there, we both had to go to the restroom and it was fairly clean and no bad smell was discovered in the either of restroom areas. The food was delivered to the table by the server promptly after we completed our salads. I did note that the food seemed a little cooler than just being prepared from the grill. The food tasted well and there was no problem with the taste portion of my meal that was a little cooler then expected. There was a portion of my spouse's salmon meal that was not consumed but she enjoyed the entree overall. The server was prompt and returning to check on us and also to bring a to-go box for the leftover food items. I would give this restaurant a second chance and visit again.
I would caution visitors to be aware of the items I mentioned above to see if it was just small issues not systemic failures by managements...
Read moreWe were told chicken fried steak was great so we came out of our way to try one.I even told the wsiter I was here soley to rate this dish, thinking they would bring me the best they had to offer. I asked it not be served on top of the texas toast as described in menu. He said ok and when it came out it was anyway. First look was crust at one side of plate, bare meat separated on other side. That's a sign the cook doesn't understand how to prep meat to avoid that. Meat was tough and chewy, but had good flavor, although a smaller portion than the menu pictures. Southern green beans had sugar in them, but no pork. Sounds like a yankee thing to me, cause I had never had sugar in green beans before and don't want to again. Wife's Monte Cristo sandwich was under-cooked and doughy. The broccoli rice was very good though, according to wife. She had joined reward club and was supposed to get free chips and queso. Asked waiter but he never returned. Finally as we are finishing up, asked about our food, but didn't even stop to listen to response. We asked if he needed our phone number for rewards before paying, and he said no, it's just based on how long you've been a member, not food purchases. What?? I guess in 5 yrs we should get a ton of freebees even if we never return. I know I won't. Oh, and the booth had these sunken cushions that after sitting put us really close to the table. Wife was literally chest high to the table top. It also had some huge support legs that were nearly impossible to squeeze out of due to how close they were crammed together. But other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play? Well back to the search for a consistently good chicken fried steak. 3 out of 10 so far a bust. Maybe no one remembers how one is supposed to look and taste anymore. I'm determined...
Read moreOn Thursday May 19th @ 905 pm, my guest and I attempted to dine at this location. Upon our entry to this restaurant, we were informed that there was a staggering 2 hour wait. The issue was not with the wait time that there front staff informed us of, it was the front desks image that was projected upon the incoming guests that wanted nothing more than a simple dinner after a tiring day of work. They were unprofessional and rude, one of them were snacking on a bag a cheddar fries and then grabbing guests' silverware to take to the table they were to be seated at. Other front desk staff were either engaged on their personal cell phone or were otherwise not interested in furthering the seating of the already waiting patrons. It is general knowledge that a kitchen usually tends to close 30 minutes before the closure of the restaurant. If this was the case and the dining hall was simply to overbooked to serve us in a timely manner, then that simply should have been explained to us at the time that the 2-hour wait was mentioned. If this is the image that your front of house staff is projecting upon newly arriving guests, what is stopping patrons from wondering what the general morale is amongst the other servers, staff, kitchen workers and etc.? I'm not going to sit here and say that i will never return to this establishment. Because personally i happen to love eating here. Nonetheless, what's not to say that about the next person that walks in the door and then proceeds to tell everyone they know about such wonderful Texas hospitality that they received upon their initial arrival here? I sincerely think that this needs to be addressed before future incidents occur that could potentially irreparably damage the chains near...
