We came on NYE at 630 for dinner with another couple. Upon checking in, the hostess was unfriendly and sat us at a high top in the bar right next to the entrance that was blowing in cold air every time the door opened and was not what we reserved. She told us sorry, that this was their mistake with the reservation (specifically requested a regular table) but that unfortunately this was the only table available even though there were at least 3-4 open four tops around the restaurant. After sitting through 3-4 door openings, our friend's husband went to talk to the hostess and let her know that we would rather go somewhere else for dinner if they didn't have a suitable table. She told him that unfortunately these were all reserved and there was nothing she could do. Until we met Hala. I'm not sure if she is only a hostess or a manager, but if she is not a manager yet she should be. Hala brought us to a different table in the main dining room and her amazing personality completely turned our experience around. She and our waiter Nick did the most amazing job taking care for the rest of the evening. We were not a rude or high maintenance table- my friend's husband is tall and the high top stools hurt his back. Our dinner was really nice from that point on. Few critiques- the cocktails here are not cheap. We had a few of the flight over Paris and the ice cube was so enormous that the actual drink (which had very little gin) was maybe 2 oz. I suggest using highball glasses if you are going to make a cocktail with a golfball sized ice cube. The food was fine, no complaints and came promptly. Nick was excellent as our server. But what really saved our NYE dinner was Hala. She is amazing and has obviously worked in the hospitality industry for a while. Because of her, we will most likely be back...
