Went into Dickeys a few months back randomly as I was hungry for some wings but hoping to avoid fried options in an attempt to watch what i eat and manage my health more or less. I figured I'd go in and scan the menu and see what they had new seeing as how I hadn't eaten at any BBQ restaurant in months prior or maybe even a year or 2. I slowly crept in as I was scanning the menu and was immediately greeted by staff and restaurant manager/owner Shishir. I inquired about their wings on the menu as they sounded very enticing and I'm a sucker for a chicken wing on any given day. He explained to me how theirs are regularly smoked and then fried and that's how they've done it since before his time. I offered my 2 cents worth of sense and said that I hoped they were smoked seeing as how it's a BBQ establishment. He quickly agreed with me and shared with me some of his plans and ideas. One which to my surprise was fully smoking batches of wings and skipping the deep fryer altogether. Sounds great I told him given my restaurant experience which is zero other than as a patron lol. What he did next was what really impressed me and that was having his employee take down my info to notify if and when the might decide to do that. Not more than 3 days later I get a personal text from Shishir greeting me and asking if I'd still be interested in some fully smoked wings. "Of course" I replied seeing as how I'd only eaten maybe a few times already that day lol. He asked me how many I'd be interested in and I leave him a number and told him my family would love to try them. He said without hesitation...great they're in the smoker and will be done later. To make a long story less long I stopped by later that day and bought a 20 piece of different flavors they offer. They were more than delicious and in my opinion rival anything their neighbors at wingstop can offer up. Before I left during that initial visit he was already sparking up conversation with another family and inquiring about what their likes and suggestions may be. Him and his team are the absolute kind you hope to encounter when going out with the family or picking up an order to take home. He was over-attentive and extremely eager to hear what the community has to say. Wing lovers please inquire within!! The entire experience was all a breath of fresh air. Everyone there carried the same enthusiasm as he did and were more than pleasant. I wish him major success at...
Read moreIf I could give the rating a 0 that would be my choice. The visit today at the location on Belt Line Rd in Irving, TX today was the most unnecessary mess I have ever imagined. Went to lunch today around 11:30 am with 2 other co-workers. We visit here sometimes 1- 2 times a week because of the specials and the location is near our workplace. Today upon arrival I needed to use the restroom facilities before I ordered. My other 2 co-workers were shortly behind me getting in the line. As I was walking to the restroom, the General manager stopped me and said I needed to purchase before using the restroom. I said ma'am it's an emergency and I am about to order as soon as I come out and so are my co-workers. The restroom door is locked which also seems to be dangerous but anyway. This lady refused to let me use the restroom. The sign on the door says for paying customers only, well I was a paying customer. But not anymore and neither are my co-workers. I work in call center and immediately sent out a blast email telling them not to ever patronize this business again. I literally said I was going to pay and she could see that it was urgent, but ignored me and tried to precede to take my co-workers order as if I was not a person standing there speaking with her about the restroom. This could have been avoided on so many levels. The inhumane decision she made cost this business not only our 3 orders but the potential for losing even more customers. The other customers that were dining in were in disbelief and shaking their heads at her unprofessional display of character to a customer who simply was on their lunch break and needed to use the restroom before ordering. I was so upset I could not even eat and then she threatened to call the police because I asked her name and the owner name. Again all of this could have been avoided, by saying ma'am I will let you use the restroom this time but if there is a next time you will know. I totally understand policies and procedures (I live them everyday at work), but everything is always at the...
Read moreSo I'm not sure why this location doesn't have a higher star rating. So it's been an extremely long time since I've had anyone's BBQ including Dickeys, like way back before 2004 mainly because my husband and I before he passed had our own little smoked meat business so we always ate what we cooked. Now the funny thing is that I really don't like smoked meats but every now and then I want it and I don't cook it anymore so I just don't get it. Now my friend who is in the hospital is totally addicted to Dickeys (orders it so much I think she has it on speed dial and if she was to cut herself she'd probably bleed Dickeys BBQ sauce) and has 20+ that I've seen of the big yellow cups adding one today... LoL. So I asked her what she wanted for me to bring her so besides the carrot cake I had to stop and get she asked for Dickeys. So her choice of the menu is the 3 meat plate with baked beans and potato salad plus a side of coleslaw, mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese and of course her Big Yellow Cup of sweet tea and sweet barbecue sauce. I didn't have time to take pictures because she was tearing up the bag trying to get to the food but I did get a little bit of each item and now here is my review of the whole experience. Everyone at this location is extremely nice, friendly and very helpful and they all had smiles on their faces and my order was correct. When I got to the hospital everything was still hot. The meat's was spot on not only with the amount of smoke I like (I hate over smoked meats) and extremely flavorful, juicy and delicious and the sides I probably could make a meal just on them. The Mac and cheese was very creamy, the baked beans had a very great BBQ flavor and I really enjoyed the coleslaw but the star side for me is the mashed potatoes. I probably would buy a whole pan of them. The only drawback for me out of the whole thing is that for the amount of meat you get there is not enough of the great BBQ sauce it was gone too fast. I'm glad she asked me to stop by...
