Yummy Chinese Take Out — Restaurant in Irvington

I want to start by saying that the lack of decent Chinese food options in this area has left me with no choice but to order from Yummy Chinese Takeout. If there were any other somewhat decent options, I would order elsewhere in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, this place has the worst customer service I have ever experienced at any restaurant.

Every time I order, I am met with a terrible attitude from the person taking my order over the phone to the delivery driver, who bangs on my door like he’s serving a warrant. The food is just okay compared to other local spots, but the service is non-existent.

The first time I ordered, I tipped the driver $5. The next time, my wife tipped $3, only for the driver to insist she give him more, saying I had tipped more previously, pressuring her to change the tip amount. Mind you, we live just three minutes away.

On another occasion, we ordered cheese wontons and were delivered crab sticks instead. When we called to report the mistake, the staff insisted that we ordered crab sticks, a dish I had never even heard of before. They refused to correct their mistake, and the person on the phone hung up on me when I mentioned how terrible their service was. It took a threat to dispute the charge before they reluctantly agreed to bring the correct order. Even then, when they returned, they had the nerve to ask for another tip. By then, we were too worried about what might have been done to the food, so we didn’t even eat it.

Overall, these people are outright rude and show no regard for basic decency. If you are in the area and have absolutely no other option, I suggest picking up your order yourself to avoid the delivery fee and the unpleasant...

First, I called and was rushed to order. I forgot to take my phone off of silent and ended up missing my delivery call but called back, literally 5 minutes later. Then the driver wouldn't answer, it took for me to call 6 times for him to answer. When he answered the phone he was yelling at me (in his accent, too heavy for me to understand) then hung up on me. I called back another 2 times to only be hung up and yelled at again. So I took the initiative to reach out to the store, and the employee who I was connected to said that he would make sure the driver would return. 3 HOURS LATER, I call the place again to let him know that my food from 4 hours ago has yet to reach me. He responds by saying they cancelled my order. They didn't call me to let me know, he didn't send the delivery driver back like he said he would, and they were just rude. Do not support Yummy Chinese Take Out, 1120 Springfield Ave, Irvingron, NJ 07111! They lie so they do not have to give you the Lunch Special pruces! Repeated called them before the lunch special prices ended and their phone line was busy! However a few minutes AFTER the lunch special prices, they answered the phone.
