Keys Chocolates & Ice Cream — Restaurant in Islamorada

At 8:56 pm after eating dinner in Islamorada, I called Keys Chocolates & Ice Cream to see when they closed. The employee on the phone said we close at 9. I said “okay thank you, have a good night” (thinking that it was too late and I would never make it in time). The polite employee said “Where are you now? You can make it!! Come stop by and I will wait for you.” Most businesses wouldn’t even pick up the phone if they were closing in a few minutes. I was so happy and surprised that we could still go.

My family and I walked into the ice cream shop and were welcomed with a warm smile. We met Louie, who was the same individual on the phone. Louie patiently let us try any ice cream, showed us the most popular flavors, and explained the history of the ice cream shop.

Louie is one of the reasons why Islamorada is such a great destination. He went above and beyond any expectations we had and made us have the best experience. We couldn’t wait to come back.

I had the best key lime pie ice cream I’ve ever had in my life. I could eat it every day.

Cute on outside and inside. Wouldn't go out of my way. The line for ice cream goes right by chocolate counter. Stood long enought not to be interested in getting a box of homemade chocolate and truffles. Saw no employee in that area. Maybe register person, but she was gone 5 -10 minutes. Husband got 1 scoop of strawberry, not one strawberry insight. I got vanilla bean with raspberry chocolate chip. Not one black vanilla bean and very weak flavor. Maybe I missed something and it was a special type. It was a steady pace of customer, but 3 employees had little room. We were excited to get ice cream at this highly rated shop and even drove in heavy traffic to get here, only to be treated with terrible customer service. The young worker must have been having a bad day because he rudly responded to my sister that he knew we were all together when she was just letting him know that we were a group of 5. The milk shakes consisted of more milk than ice cream and they had run out of chocolate and double chocolate fudge ice cream. I will defiantly not come back here because of low ice cream and...
